Work groups are small teams that that focus on different goals of the project. Work groups help to break big goals into smaller pieces.
Working in groups helps us to learn from each other, support each other, and share our different experiences and skills.
Workgroup members:
Do hands-on work to meet the project goals.
Attend and participate in regular meetings.
Complete assigned tasks between meetings.
Project staff lead and support work groups to meet the project goals.
What is our goal?
Help people learn about and access AAC and peer support by sharing information.
What will we do?
Help spread the word about the online hub and peer support directory.
Connect with organizations that share our goals
Create clear and accessible messages that tell the AAC community about the Network.
These messages could be shared in emails, social media, at events and conferences, or in short videos.
Messages will be designed to reach different individuals and groups.
We will track how well our messages are working.

What is our goal?
Build on what we learned in the first phase of the AAC Peer Support Project by studying what makes AAC peer support programs strong, useful, and last a long time.
What will we do?
Study what makes AAC peer support hard or easy in different communities.
We'll start by focusing on adults with acquired disabilities and parents of children with developmental disabilities.
Create simple ways to tell whether peer support is working well. This includes looking at:
Is the program helpful to people?
Is the program accessible?
Is the program likely to last a long time?
Plan and run focus groups and surveys
Help write reports
Who is in this group?
People who like to research, solve problems, and educate others.

What is our goal?
Build a user-driven website (the AAC Peer Support Hub) with resources for AAC users, families, and providers.
What will we do?
Decide what goes on the Hub.
Decide how the Hub works.
Test the Hub and give feedback to make sure it reflects lived experience, is helpful, and accessible.
Create a directory of peer support groups and mentors.
Create quality standards for groups and mentors listed in the directory.
Find and create resources to share on the Hub. These are tools and information that can help people give and get AAC peer support. This includes:
How to give and get peer support using AAC
How to run inclusive and accessible meetings
Who is in this group?
