Causal inference: Check out these interesting videos about causal inference in different researchers' work; I talk about breastfeeding in one of them.
Bachelor's and Master's Theses: If you are interested in writing a BA/MA thesis, please read carefully this guideline, which provides information on how to apply.
At the moment, I have the following thesis topics available:
Occupational choice in Switzerland. For this topic, you will take part in the preparations of one of my research projects or analyze already collected data, depending on your skills and preferences. Current projects cover topics like advice-giving, stereotypes, math confidence, forced experimentation, and information about counter-stereotypical occupational fit. These projects take place in the field and through online surveys. Tasks might include coding, conducting, and analyzing a survey among a sample of adolescents in Switzerland, as well as field work. Required skills: good programming skills and preferably proficiency in German (but more basic German skills are also fine).
What are the causal effects of breastfeeding on child health? For this topic, you will work with a data set that I have compiled based on the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), covering low- and middle-income countries. Required skills: excellent programming skills in Stata (or other statistical programs) and understanding of causality.
