Hi, I am Abir Saha. I am a Composite Materials Scientist and an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University, Ahmedabad, India. My research lies at the intersection of advanced composites, bio-inspiration, and sustainable materials. I am interested in understanding how natural materials and biological structures can inspire the design of lightweight, multifunctional, and damage-tolerant engineering materials.
My current research focuses on fibre-reinforced polymer composites, textile composites, bio-inspired and biomimetic architectures, sustainable biocomposites, nanocomposites, and 3D-printed composite materials. I am particularly interested in designing and developing materials with improved mechanical performance, multifunctionality, and environmental sustainability for demanding engineering applications.
Beyond my current research, I am interested in collaborative opportunities involving high-performance composites, bio fiber/polymers, nanocellulose, bio-piezoelectric materials, additive manufacturing, and next-generation bio-inspired materials.
