Thinking Fast and Slow and Other Cognitive Theories in AI
AAAI 2022 Fall Symposium
We encourage academics, policymakers, and practitioners in the many disciplines relevant to the topics of this event to join this symposium.
Topics
A non-exhaustive list of topics relevant for the Symposium follows:
System 1 and system 2 capabilities in AI and their dynamic refinement over time
Governance and coordination between AI system 1 and system 2
Introspection and meta-cognition in agents’ capabilities
General machine decision frameworks vs specific solutions
Leveraging cognitive theories of human reasoning to advance AI
The role of machine learning and reasoning, and their combination, in ethical machine decision making
Submissions
We encourage two kinds of submissions:
Expression of interest (up to 2 pages): authors should describe their interests in participating in the symposium and their recent work related to its topics. We encourage all participants to submit their expressions of interest as they will be used to design the discussion part of the symposium and to identify an active role in this discussion.
Technical papers (max 8 pages included references ): theoretical or experimental scientific studies, descriptions of use cases, lessons learned, datasets, or other resources. They will be reviewed by the Symposium Program Committee. Accepted papers will be published on the symposium website and they will be presented orally or as a poster during the meeting.
The review process is single-blind. The submission format is the standard double-column AAAI Proceedings Style.
Submissions of both expressions of interest and papers should be done through this Easychair link.
Accepted papers will be published in CEUR WS Proceedings.
After the Symposium, we plan to publish a special issue of the AI Magazine including selected contributions from the symposium and possibly other papers (another call will be circulated later).
