After 35 years as a front office travel agent, I knew I would go with AAA as my host agency once I decided to make the transition to an independent contractor. You cannot put a price on the sterling reputation AAA has built over the years with the travelling public. The AAA brand carries respect and clout with our suppliers who offer us preferred commission levels in many cases. The AAA ITA program offers a multi-week training course that is friendly and informative. After the course was completed, I enjoy daily support from a management and technical level. The ITA program with AAA feels like family and a valued part of the entire company. For those considering a position as an ITA, I would highly recommend going with AAA!

Moving from a front line travel advisor to the AAA Independent Travel Agency program was the single greatest decision I’ve made in my professional life. Being independent has not only improved my work/life balance immeasurably, but it’s made me a better agent and greater asset to my clients because I can travel all the time! Experiencing products and Covid protocols firsthand is essential to being the best travel advisor possible, and I wouldn’t have been able to do even a quarter of the travel I’ve done if I were still stuck behind a desk. My clients love that I’m always on a cruise ship when they call, and I love that I’m just a WIFI connection away from working anywhere I like!

I was an in house AAA agent in Iowa from June 1997- Feb 2009. When the office closed for downsizing I opted into the Independent Agent program and it was the best blessing for me and my family. I love the flexibility of working the hours I want and no one to tell me what I had to do; I could mostly do what I wanted to do. I was blessed to have a clientele built up already and now I only have to rely on current customers and their referrals. AAA has been instrumental in being able to do all this because of the brand name that’s trusted for customers and I can feel comfortable working with the vendors that AAA recommends and has a relationship with. I value the support that AAA also gives us as independent agents, there have been many changes since 2009 in the way things are done but we have to adapt, always, in this changing world environment. I also have relationships with other independent agents so you’re not alone and there’s always help. I don’t do a lot of the trainings because I’m familiar with the technology already, but I know that there are plenty of opportunities and resources provided by AAA. Also the relationships with the various vendors is exceptional and higher commissions so it’s a peace of mind working with AAA and I’m looking forward to better travel days ahead.
