ムディカは元はコスタリカのクレイパシフィカ社製のプレス成型の安価で粗悪な小口径の平凡なレバーアクションライフル、”Model246”だった。

溢れるように大量生産されたModel246の多くが陸続きのメキシコに流れ、使用された。

その一部がアメリカとの国境地帯で活動する違法の越境支援武装組織の手に渡り、用途に適合するように極限まで改造された。

その改造により生まれたのがムディカだ。

ムディカはもはやModel246の面影が無いほど改造されている、装填方式は横からのクリップ装填または横付けのマガジンであり、主にレシーバー周りは非常に強固に改修されている、ここまでレシーバーを強化する理由は変更された使用弾薬にある。

アメリカの国境警備隊は強固なセラミックとUHMWPE(超高分子量ポリエチレン)の複合装甲で構成されたボディーアーマーを着用しており、そこらの弾薬では到底太刀打ちできない、そこでムディカは.338 ラプア・マグナム弾をベースに細工され作られた.338 ラプア・マグナム徹甲炸裂弾仕様という極めて特殊な弾薬を使用する。

.338 ラプア・マグナムを無理やり徹甲炸裂弾に改造した代償として弾薬としては異常なほど高価であり、4～6発撃つだけで銃本体を超える値段になる。

だがその威力は言うまでもなく凄まじく国境の強固なコンクリ―ト壁さえも砕ける、これを人間に撃とうものならどうなるかは想像に難くない。

徹甲炸裂弾という仕様は連射が不得意なレバーアクションライフルの弱点を補完する重要なピースとなっている。

相手よりも高くからの狙撃が最も効果的だ。

The Mudica was originally a cheap, crude, small-caliber, ordinary lever-action rifle, the Model 246, made by Clay Pacifica in Costa Rica through press molding.

Many of the Model 246s that were mass-produced ended up in Mexico, which is connected to the US border, where they were used.

Some of these fell into the hands of illegal cross-border militia groups operating along the US border, and were modified to the utmost to suit their needs.

The Mudica was born from these modifications.

The Mudica has been modified so much that it no longer resembles a Model 246. It is loaded by side clip or using a side-mounted magazine, and the area around the receiver has been significantly reinforced. The reason for strengthening the receiver to this extent is due to the change in ammunition used.

US Border Patrol agents wear body armor made from a composite of strong ceramic and UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene), making ordinary ammunition no match for them. Therefore, Mudica uses highly specialized ammunition called the .338 Lapua Magnum Armor-Piercing Explosive Ammunition, which is based on the .338 Lapua Magnum and modified to make it more powerful.

The cost of forcibly modifying the .338 Lapua Magnum to make it armor-piercing is extraordinary; firing just four to six rounds would cost more than the gun itself.

Needless to say, its power is incredible, shattering even the solid concrete walls of the border. It's not hard to imagine what would happen if someone tried to fire it at a human.

The armor-piercing explosive ammunition is an important factor in compensating for the lever-action rifle's weakness in rapid fire.

It's most effective when sniping from a height of several dozen meters above the target.
