🧳 This is our recommended packing list for the retreat. Please note the retreat venue will only provide a mattress to sleep on.

Rich Mendola has been working among international students for the past 38 years. He is currently the CEO of International Friendships, Inc. (IFI) based in Columbus, OH, a Christian ministry to international students that involves volunteers from local churches in friendships with international students. He regularly shares the vision of impacting the nations through serving internationals and partnering with them. He has seen many internationals become powerful witnesses for Jesus among the nations. Rich regularly speaks at conferences and churches about topics related to International Student Ministry. He is also a church planter having planted 3 different multi-cultural churches. He is married to Janet and they have 6 children.
Chul and Sharon Kim
Chul and Sharon Kim are Acts2 Network International Ministry directors who oversee the international ministries nation-wide. Chul received his B.S. in Microbiology from Seoul National University and Ph.D. in Biophysics from UC Berkeley. He was a professor of chemistry at CSU East Bay until 2019. Sharon received her Bachelors degree from UC Berkeley. She also earned her TESOL certificate and taught English to international students before becoming a network director. Chul and Sharon have been mentoring international students since 2003, starting in UC Berkeley, then to Southern California, and now primarily in the Midwest region. They have 2 children.
Travel Info 🛫
Out-of-town guests can fly in and out of MDW, ORD (both in Chicago) or IND (Indianapolis) Airports. Retreat site is about 2hr 15min drive from both MDW / ORD (+1hr time difference) and 1hr24min from IND.
In general the plan is to arrive at retreat site by Friday 3/15, 8pm. Last session will end by Sunday 3/17, 4pm. But we understand that airfare / travel times can be tricky so please communicate with your mentors for best flights for all in your party.
** Please note the retreat venue is in Eastern Standard Time zone, while Chicago airports are in Central Standard Time zone (1 hr difference) **
