As a student teacher, my philosophy of teaching begins with the belief that every student is completely unique. Each student has their own distinctive learning styles, needs, and strengths and it is my job as an educator to ensure I create a classroom that allows them to feel comfortable and included. Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is vital in the holistic development of students.
Holistic teaching style recognizes that students have different learning styles and emphasizes the interconnectedness of all subjects in school. This style strives to take care of the whole student, including their physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.
In my classroom, I will always strive to create an environment based on inclusivity and respect. A space that allows my students to explore new interests and takes risks that will help them learn from their mistakes without fear of judgment. I believe it is important to really listen and take into consideration what the students need from me as a teacher and what I can do to ensure a positive and supported learning environment.
Some strategies I may include in my classroom are differentiated learning and more collaborative learning while also incorporating mindfulness learning.
I hope to instill a love of learning and promote long-term success.
