A Millionaire's First Love (Korean: ; RR: Baekmanjangja-ui cheot-sarang) is a 2006 South Korean romance film directed by Kim Tae-kyun, starring Hyun Bin and Lee Yeon-hee.[1][2] The theme of the film is "Nothing is more important than the true love of your heart."[3] It was released in South Korean cinemas on February 9, 2006, and recorded 639,596 admissions during its run.[4][5][6]

Kang Jae-kyung (Hyun Bin) is a typical rich kid. He is arrogant, drives sporty cars, attends the big clubs and rides through school corridors on his motorcycle. As his 18th birthday approaches, he is set to inherit his grandfather's fortune, but first Jae-kyung is required to transfer to a new school in Gangwon Province and graduate. Until then all access to his penthouse, cottage and credit cards are denied. Should he fail to graduate or drops out then he loses everything. If he wishes to give up, he will only receive 0.1% of his over-all inheritance. With this in mind, he heads out to the countryside, to a small town in which daily life is far removed from what he is used to.

The first half of the film is lighthearted and funny and then there is a big tonal shift and everything changes. The tonal shift wasn't handled very well in my opinion. The acting and score were decent, the direction was adequate. It's a clunky movie but it's also very sweet.

"A Millionaire's First Love" story revolves around a high school senior named Jae Kyung played by Hyun Bin. When he turns 19, he is set to become a millionaire. But a day before he is about to inherit his fortune, he discovers the will from his late grandfather. Jae Kyung will only get his millions once he graduates from Boram High School. He has no choice but to follow the will of his beloved grandfather.

Most of his previous projects received good feedback from the viewers. He was loved for every character he played. Some of his successful projects were "Secret Garden," "Hyde Jekyll, Me," "Confidential Assignment," "The Negotiation," "Rampant," and his recent megahit drama "Crash Landing on You" where he found his now loving real-life girlfriend Son Ye Jin.

Hyun Bin will return on the screen with his forthcoming movie "Confidential Assignment 2" alongside SNSD's YoonA, Jin Sun Kyu, Yu Hae Jin, and Daniel Henney. The film is expected to premiere in the first half of 2022, Hyun Bin is also gearing up for another film "Harbin."

I always watch dvds coz im a movieholic but when i ran out of dvds i borrowed one from my friend.she lent me this korean dvd, a millionaire's first love and i was so cynical about it because i had never been big on korean movies. I was so dissapointed with my friend for giving me this dvd and so it had rested on a pile on my table for the longest time.when i ran out of movies to watch again i turned to that dvd and with no choice left, i watched it and I WAS FLOORED. It was so beautiful. I suppose the story was a little bit of a cliche but it had a different twist.The combination of arrogance and good looks of the guy paired with the innocent sweetness of the girl is a breath of fresh air. Most asian movies with arrogant guys have tough girls as well, but in this movie, she was tough but in a different way.The acting was excellent, with just the right emotion. I must say i give this movie two thumbs up. I fell in love with this movie and it started my addiction to korean movies. I had stereotyped korean movies as corny but now, im a self-confessed koreanaholic.Right now,im browsing the net for more korean movies.

The story of this film, they say, is cliched already. In fact, it is! But what sets this film apart from those movies I've seen with theme similar to this, is that, it doesn't only provide a distinct impact that puts anyone into EMO mode. It has a moral content like other Korean Films are known for... A film I can add in my collection of love films like Moments of Love (Dingdong Dantes, Iza Calzado,and Karylle) and The Reader (Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, and David Kross).

the plot of the film is very repeatitive.there is nothing new abt the plot.one can easily track the story but the scenes are shot with a greatness.the feeling of love showed in a charming way.....

the emotional scenes are far better then A WALK to REMEM.....

so.....a must watch for couple...and also for...who lost their buddies....

I really enjoy watching Korean love stories as compare to English love stories..

This would be easily one of few best Classy Korean flicks in romance genre. The first thing which will get your attention is the magical Background score throughout the film with a splendid Visuals to support it. BGM is so divine that it would make your heart melting with the movie. Movie is about a millionaire guy raised by his grandfather after his parents death due to a car accident. He lives a very high live spending money on everything lavishly with his rich friends until his grandfather Demise. It was then he gets to know about his Grandfathers will from his lawyer that in-order to inherit the entire wealth he needs to successfully graduate from a school in a village else all wealth would go to trust fund. So that's were his journey begins as he arrives to that village trying to adopt to that normal life. Being rich he used to live a comfort life but now he needs to get accustomed to a very normal life and with great difficulty he slowly adapts to it while at the same time he falls in love with a orphan girl. Things goes totally bad when he gets to know that she is breathing her last days of life and that there is nothing there to prevent from it. So the rest part is how he makes her happy on those few days remaining and how once a rich guy who never cared about anything has totally became a guy who is ready to give up anything for the sake of love. Movie is very appealing and pleasing throughout. A best feel good movie this is and i could say this is also a Korean version of my fav film " A walk to remember". This is a movie not to be missed and need to be experienced. A must watch list.
