Assistant Director/ Stage Manager
With this being my senior year here at Theatre Northwest I've been doing a lot of reflecting on my time here. I can honestly say without a doubt that I am glad I chose to study here for the last four years. I have met so many amazing people and made so many amazing memories that I know I will remember for years to come. Not only that, but I have been given opportunity after opportunity to learn and grow as a theater member and as a person.
I joined Theater Northwest as a freshman in the fall of 2017 with a Technical Theater major and the intention to learn stage management even though I had never worked in stage management before. My experience in the theater had only ever been acting on stage, but the faculty and upperclassmen made sure to remedy that gap quickly.
My first production at Theatre Northwest was another acting role in my Freshman/Transfer Showcase in the Fall of 2017. However, not long after that production closed I was working as the Assistant Stage Manager for the very next production that semester, Stop Kiss. Even though I found myself stranded on stage behind a set piece for the departmental preview, I was still convinced that I wanted to continue pursuing stage management. My next production assignment as Assistant Stage Manager and Run Crew Chief for Still Life with Iris in the spring went much better and I have grown, learned, and developed my skills ever since. I guess I must be doing alright because the faculty and my peers have continuously provided me with more and more leadership positions in my time here.
I am now looking towards my last semester here in the fall before I graduate in December and I look forward to meeting more theater lovers and hopefully teaching them and learning from them in my last semester in productions, in class, in shop, and in life outside of the theater.

Spoon River was such an interesting production to work on for my Senior Project. As the Stage Manager and Assistant Director I've had quite the workload and plenty of responsibility, but it's been a lot of fun and well worth the work to take on such a leadership position for this show that is so different from any that the department has done since I've been here. From figuring out Zoom auditions, to creating a rehearsal schedule for a completely Zoom-based rehearsal process, to creating a filming schedule, to providing direction during on-location filming when the Zoom link with the Director would cut out I enjoyed taking my previous experience and applying it to a new situation. Having worked as Stage Manager and Assistant Director for Dr. Ross last spring on Under Milk Wood definitely helped me in preparing for the rehearsal process and in understanding and being able to maintain his vision for the production when he wasn't on location with us for filming.
