Pulitzer prize winning photo taken by Eddie Adams of National Liberation Front prisoner Nguyen Van Lem, also known as Captain Bay Lop, being shot at point blank range by South Vietnamese Major General Nguyen Ngoc Loan. The photo was seized upon by anti-war activists as evidence of the brutality of the war. Later, Adams came to regret having taken the photo, feeling it had been used out of context, insofar as the man being shot was deemed to be a Viet Cong, or National Liberation Front assassin, responsible for the killing of South Vietnamese Army officers. Regardless of the context, the photo appeared on the cover of newspapers and magazines throughout the country in February, 1968, the same time when the TET Offensive was taking place, and undoubtedly played a role in turning public sentiment in the U.S. against an increasingly unpopular war. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f9/Nguyen.jpg
