A Gift That Empowers

and Strengthens the Community

A Face Within The Crowd has been quietly working with

Maryland Communities for over 20 years.

We are a mobile unit of volunteers assisting homeless individuals

in finding the services they need.

**Share** Show You Care**Together We Can End Community Despair**

Homelessness in Maryland is not happening because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Homelessness has existed in our communities for years and perhaps the Pandemic has just highlighted the problem as we have seen the numbers of homeless families and individuals increase over the past 2 years. While Covid-19 may have highlighted the problem other factors such as a persons mental health and medical condition have been playing a role in numbers of homeless for many years.

In 2020 The Continuums  Of Care reported that an estimated 6,630 Maryland Individuals and Families were experiencing Homelessness.  However, at any given point during the year Maryland could experience growth in the homeless population exceeding over 50,000 men, women, and children.

Marylanders, take great pride in our state. We are considered one of the richest states in the country. Unfortunately, Maryland seems to mask the fact that it has become one of the highest states with residents living in the deepest of poverty and has ranked in the top 10 states with the highest housing rates in our country.

Maryland's poorest residents working minimum wage often go without a place to call home.  The average  Fair Market Rate for a 2 bedroom apartment is $1300 per month. Unfortunately, residents working 40 hours a week at minimum wage are unable to afford the housing cost.  The sad reality is, There is no Maryland County where a resident could afford the 2 bedroom apartment working just 40 hours at minimum wage.

Just Like "Simple Words Mean A Lot"

so does the

" Simplest Acts of Kindness and Sharing It Forward" in Our Communities

Below is Where Your "Share Funds"  are Used

For The Donate Maryland Care Campaign:

Shelter In Place

*** We are focusing on

Operation Shelter in Place****

This is our greatest Immediate Need!

The Moratorium has ended and evictions are happening.  Many Residents have applied for assistance but the process

takes a long time because

the demand is high.

In some cases, residents are evicted before the funding is approved. Shelter in place funding helps to pay the landlords and stop the eviction process while the application is being processed.

The goal of Sheltering in Place is to keep fewer individuals or families from becoming homeless.

Being Homeless affects the overall mental and physical health. The uncertainty of knowing whether or not you will have a place to rest safely at night can be overwhelming.

It creates in both Adults and Children:

Being Homeless is a very stressful situation that comes with increased worry!

Special Thanks To Betterworld.org:

At a Time Where Every Dollar Counts

Betterworld has made collecting donations online and the set up of our

Donate Maryland Campaign a very smooth and easy process.

Forbes Magazine summed it up nicely:

"transforming the charitable giving space by offering nonprofits a free platform of fundraising tools

where they can keep 100% of the dollars they raise"
