When I first published New to the Crew, I figured people might have some questions: What are you doing? Are you crazy?
Why does he only have three hairs?!
Not once did it ever cross my mind that there would be even a possibility of anyone asking me to sign their book. And then it happened. My first little book baby entered the world, family and friends started purchasing, and the messages started rolling in with: will you sign my copy?
Within the first day New to the Crew was available on Amazon, 8 people reached out and asked if I would sign theirs. I remember sitting down at the end of that day, thoroughly confused as to why anyone would want me to sign their book. When I shared this with my husband, he looked at me like I was nuts. "Because they want the author to sign, and in this case that's YOU!"
Over the next couple of days, I had 14 book signature requests. With the holidays coming up, and knowing that Fish Wish was very near to it's publication date, the idea of meeting up with 14 people individually felt daunting and overwhelming. (If you are one of those 14 beautiful human beings, please don't be offended! I love and appreciate you more than you know1 This season is just really busy, as I'm sure you know!) Thus, I decided to do the book signing event, in hopes of meeting those requests.
I opted for the local library, because it's also a goal of mine to someday see my books on a library shelf, in circulation among small humans. We were really big library goers growing up, have been ever since, and we are continuing that with the Captain, so it felt like a fitting location. Plus, the room reservation was free, and that's a big selling feature1
We had snacks, a coloring station, and special gold seals to welcome all those who attended as members of the crew!
Thank you to those that were able to come on out, visit with us, and allow me the honor of signing your book. It was really nice to see all of you, and to see the Captain meet and greet you!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy holiday season.
