Design Thinking Sprint and Competition
(Conducted by University Professors)
Greetings! We’re delighted you’re interested in the Design Thinking workshop, which will be at Trumbull High School on March 8. It’s open to all Grade 8-12 students who attend Trumbull schools as well as Trumbull students who are attending schools located outside Trumbull.
By registering below, you’ll be committing to join other like-minded students who want to learn – and experience – a cutting-edge problem-solving approach that’s used in multiple organizational settings beyond high school. More information about Design Thinking is provided in several slides that appear below.
With the opportunity to earn cash awards and build your college-prep resume, you’ll work with fellow students collaboratively in small groups to explore novel ideas and solutions. You’ll learn to draft problem and solution statements, use AI/machine learning to support research and writing, and polish your presentation skills by preparing and delivering oral presentations to an impressive evaluation panel of judges.
So, please proceed to register and make your payment using the information, form, and link that follow below.
There’s a $20 registration fee, which covers the cost of supplies, food, and drinks, that can be made using PayPal at this link or by mailing a check payable to Trumbull BEI to 120 Campbell Road, Trumbull.
This Trumbull Business Education Initiative program is co-sponsored by the Trumbull Academic Challenge for Excellence (ACE) Foundation.
Deadline Extended! Registration and payment must be the evening of Thursday, March 6th to participate. As the workshop date approaches, you’ll receive information to help you prepare for the workshop, which will go from 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

BEI’s Purpose and Objectives
Now in its 27th year, the Trumbull Business-Education Initiative (BEI) is a vibrant partnership involving members of our Business, Education, Community, and Town Government constituencies.
It provides opportunities for Trumbull’s public and private K-12 students to learn about careers and to help them develop an understanding of various work environments, all designed to help them be well-prepared to make educated choices as they transition from the high school environment. Trumbull BEI aims to help students to ‘BE’ (Business Education) Ready for what’s next.
Vision
BEI’s vision holds that working together, representatives of business, education, community, and town government can help to motivate and greatly enhance the understanding of post-high school alternative paths toward higher education or vocational training as well as the work world as K-12 students learn about options available to them following high school graduation.
Mission
The mission of BEI is to utilize the partnership to develop an environment in which all involved students can acquire an understanding of the needs and requirements of the work world while helping them develop an appreciation of these demands as they make well-informed decisions about their futures. BEI strives to:
Improve the business community’s understanding of the educational community
Develop an improved understanding of the roles required of business and education to assure student career awareness and preparedness
Assure that business requirements of the work skills and work habits are found in the curriculum
Provide business and professional expertise to the educational community
Develop a medium for informing, guiding, and motivating students about the career and work process
Provide funding for such activities using a tax-exempt foundation
