Privacy Policy – 9 Plates
Last updated: 16 July 2026
9 Plates ("the App") is developed and published by Simplify Studio (Thomas Barton). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the App on Android or iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
Account Information (via Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or Email and Password — Firebase Authentication): When you create an account or sign in, we receive your email address, a user ID, and basic profile information (such as your name, where provided by Google or Apple). This is used solely for authentication, account management, and to personalise your experience (for example, associating your goals, tasks, and subscription tier with your account). If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email address, in which case we receive only Apple's private relay address.
Subscription Information: When you upgrade to the Life Goals tier (or any paid plan), we process your subscription status and tier via Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchase (iOS). We do not store full payment details (such as credit card numbers) — these are handled securely by Google or Apple and are never visible to us.
User-Generated Content: Notes, titles, deadlines, completion status, and other details you add to goals and tasks ("Plates") are stored in our database to provide the App's core functionality. This content is private to your account. We never access the content of your goals, tasks, or notes except where necessary to resolve a support issue at your request.
Device and Usage Data: Automatically collected technical information such as device type, operating system, IP address, app version, and usage patterns (for example, which features you use) to improve performance, debug issues, and ensure security.
Notifications Data: If you enable notifications, we store minimal data (a device push token) to deliver reminders for task deadlines.
Voice Commands: If you use voice commands to create tasks, the audio is processed in real time to interpret your command. We do not store voice recordings.
We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as health data, precise location, or financial details beyond subscription status) unless you explicitly include it yourself in notes, which you control.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Authenticate and manage your account.
Provide core features (creating and editing goals, tasks, and notes; tracking progress; displaying trophies).
Manage subscriptions and unlock premium features.
Send deadline reminders and notifications (if enabled).
Improve the App, fix bugs, and ensure security.
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in limited cases:
With Google (Firebase for authentication, Google Play Billing for subscriptions on Android) — subject to Google's privacy terms: https://policies.google.com/privacy
With Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store In-App Purchase for subscriptions on iOS) — subject to Apple's privacy terms: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
With service providers (such as database hosting via Neon and application hosting via Render) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
If required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in cloud databases (Neon) and Firebase services. We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data retention: We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location (for example, UK GDPR for the United Kingdom, GDPR for the EU/EEA, CCPA/CPRA for California), you may have the right to:
Access, correct, or delete your data.
Opt out of certain processing (for example, notifications).
Withdraw consent (where applicable).
Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
To exercise these rights, email tomasomally@gmail.com. We respond within legal timeframes (typically 30–45 days).
You can also, at any time:
Delete your account and all associated data directly in the App: Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Sign out of your account in the App settings.
Manage notifications in your device settings.
Cancel subscriptions via Google Play (Android) or your App Store subscription settings (iOS). Deleting the App or your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription — please cancel via Google Play or the App Store.
6. Third-Party Services
Firebase / Google: Used for authentication and (on Android) billing. See Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and Firebase privacy documentation: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Apple: Used for Sign in with Apple and (on iOS) In-App Purchase. See Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
No other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are currently used. If any are added in future, we will update this policy.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided us with data.
8. International Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own (for example, US-based cloud services). Where required, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
