During the 2025–2026 school year, 9D and 8N sponsored the Leadership Club. The club successfully assisted with assemblies and school events, but most decisions were made by sponsor teachers, leaving students with limited leadership opportunities.
As such, this year we will be rebranding the Leadership Club as Student Government to give our middle school students greater ownership opportunities while remaining under staff supervision.
Membership is open to all interested middle school students. Starting in 2026, each September, students across all grade levels elect a Prime Minister, normally from Grade 9. If there are insufficient Grade 9 candidates, Grade 8 students may also run. Candidates organize campaign teams, present their platforms, and participate in a school-wide election by ballot.
Following the election, the Prime Minister appoints a Cabinet, subject to sponsor teacher approval. Only middle school students can apply for cabinet positions outlined below:
· Minister of Communications – oversees all marketing, technology, and public speakers
· Minister of the Environment – oversees the recycling program with a team and planning for Earth Day
· Minister of Finance & Fundraising – oversees all fundraising efforts, keeps track of money raised
· Minister of Community – oversees student body, church, and Indigenous relations with a focus on buddy events
· Minister of Event Planning – oversees field trip, school event and assemblies
· Minister of Assemblies – oversees planning and implementation of student government contributions to assemblies
