Hip-hop subgenre known as "gangsta rap," shows the way of life of street hustlers and urban gangs. According to Wikipedia, Gangsta rap has been charged with encouraging disorderly behavior and general criminal activity, including drug dealing, assault, and murder, as well as materialism, promiscuity, and misogyny. According to Greg Tate's article, "Gangsta Rap," the originators of gangsta rap, which first appeared in the late 1980s, were Philadelphia's Schoolly D and Los Angeles' Ice-T. Later, N.W.A. and Tupac Shakur helped the genre spread to California. Gangster rap gained recognition in 1992 because of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.Â
