Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a 2010 American action fantasy film directed by Mike Newell from a screenplay by Boaz Yakin, Doug Miro, and Carlo Bernard, based on the video game series Prince of Persia created by Jordan Mechner. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, and Alfred Molina. It is an adaptation of the 2003 video game of the same name published by Ubisoft. Elements from its sequels Warrior Within and The Two Thrones are also incorporated.

In March 2004, the production company Jerry Bruckheimer Films sought to acquire feature film rights to the 2003 video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with the film to be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Under John August as executive producer, the series' creator Jordan Mechner was hired to write the script. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer's Pirates of the Caribbean film trilogy served as a touchstone in how a theme park ride was converted into a film franchise. According to Mechner, rather than to do a straight adaptation of the videogame, they took some elements from the game and used them to craft a new story.[5] Mechner previously considered producing an animated film based on the games, but could not resist Disney and Bruckheimer's offer.[6] In February 2006, Disney hired screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff to write a new script for Prince of Persia.[7]

When filming began, the film's release date was postponed to May 28, 2010, with the studio seeking enough time for the post-production process in designing the film's special effects. The profit margin on the Pirates of the Caribbean films was compromised by overspending as special effects teams rushed to complete the films for their release dates.[12] Variety also ascribed the postponement to avoiding the potential 2008 Screen Actors Guild strike so the studio could ensure that the film leads to a "mega-franchise" similar to its successful Pirates of the Caribbean series.[13] Other reasons for the release date change were that the film was originally scheduled a week before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Disney needed more time to co-ordinate its marketing campaign.[14] Gyllenhaal claims he "over-prepared"[15] for the role, gaining five or six pounds of muscle.[15] Gemma Arterton was cast to play the role of protagonist Tamina,[14] and Arterton practiced horse back riding in Madrid before filming.[16] Ben Kingsley was cast to portray the film's antagonist, Nizam.[17] Alfred Molina was cast to portray a character named Sheik Amar, who becomes a mentor to the prince.[18] Toby Kebbell was cast to play Prince Garsiv, Dastan's brother and head of the Persian army.[19]

The film was intended to be the start of a new franchise, similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean films, as a swashbuckling adventure series. The disappointing box office returns, combined with mediocre reviews and dissipating interest in the games, led to any sequel plans being abandoned.[38]

R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour was a Canadian/American original anthology horror-fantasy series, with episodes each half an hour long. The new show was produced by Front Street Pictures, The Hatchery, Incendo Films and Endemol, and premiered on The Hub, which overtook Discovery Kids on October 10, 2010. The show had a sneak peek premiere on October 29, 2010 and returned on December 25, 2010 with two Christmas specials, after which the show is now on weekly.[1] The series is based on The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It Movie, and the books The Haunting Hour and Nightmare Hour anthology by R. L. Stine.[2] The show was renewed by The Hub for a second season as part of their 2011-2012 upfront. On February 22, 2012 R.L. Stine announced on his Twitter page that R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour had been renewed for a third season.[3]

On July 9, 2012, it was announced that R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour was one of four original series from The Hub that won the CINE Golden Eagle Award for high quality production and storytelling.[4]

On November 29 2014, Goodwill Toward Men was the series finale, a month later (December 8 2014), R.L Stine revealed on his Twitter that The Haunting Hour was dropped therefore cancelled by Discovery Family for unknown reasons.

Prior to the broadcast of the series, series creator, R. L. Stine reported via Twitter saying The Haunting Hour was similar to his previous series Goosebumps. The series is filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Like the TV series Goosebumps, every episode and season features a different cast which can vary in a scary situation. However, the storylines are much darker than its aforementioned predecessor, and some episodes serve as very dark morality tales. There are, however, some episodes that have happy endings similar to most of the episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark? which had this formula.

The story is fairly clear in its general outlines, but sometimes baffling on the specifics. Based on the novel by John Grisham, as adapted by three of the most expensive screenwriters in the business (David Rabe, Robert Towne and David Rayfiel), "The Firm" takes 2 1/2 hours to find its way through a moral and legal maze. By the end, despite McDeere's breathless explanations during phone calls in the middle of a chase sequence, I was fairly confused about his strategy. But I didn't care, since the form of the movie was effective even when the details were vague.

Throughout the movie, Hathaway leads the series representing the rise of a fallen hero. Having the necessary skills, Hathaway may be the only person capable enough of stopping the dangerous motive behind these cyber attacks.

So while Netflix pulled it off this time around, the streaming giant needs to release more high-quality original series that have totally new concepts and characters if it wants to keep up with its rivals.

By covering decades of Frank Sheeran's life, we a more expansive and layered portrait that we rarely get in Mafia Movies.

I like Nyn's test, it really showed the sacrifices Aes Sedai make. My issue is in a series so short of time, so much of the episode focused on her test seemed liked a lot. The series so far does seem very Nyn centric.

Dragonmount is a fan-maintained website dedicated to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time fantasy series. It is an online community of people from all over the world who have come here to experience the series to the fullest.

Great TV show, best animated series this year maybe? I hope it gets another season(s) for the definitive ending of this "Kill Bill" type of story. But I'm not feeling London as the next destination. Not an exotic location, swordsmanship is thrown in the bin for firearms, boring and overdone, and starts to remind me of Nioh video game plot too much. One thing for sure, FL would stand out there even more than in Japan. She also doesn't speak English, but maybe the bad guy will teach her on her long voyage there.

The found footage genre is horrifying, given its ability to place audiences in the shoes of terrorized characters by using a first-person point of view. But director Kji Shiraishi takes it to another level with his 2005 film, "Noroi: The Curse." The film is presented as an incomplete documentary by paranormal researcher and journalist Masafumi Kobayashi (Jin Muraki), who is known for his books, documentaries, and TV series about ghostly events around Japan. In this documentary, Kobayashi begins investigating reports of disembodied sounds of babies crying, but the film quickly becomes about something much more sinister.

Based on a popular manga series, 2006's "Death Note" follows a college student named Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara) and his mission to create an ideal society by eradicating criminals. His journey begins when he discovers a mysterious notebook titled "Death Note." When Light scrawls various individual's names in its pages, they die. So, he begins to fill the journal with those he considers evil, hoping to make the world a better place. The rash of resulting murders tips off Interpol, and detective L (Kenichi Matsuyama) is tasked with finding out the truth and tracking Light down as the young man spirals out of control.

A famous spin-off of the previous mention, Xena was another popular television series based in Greek mythology. Created by writer and director Robert Tapert, it continued the story of Xena that first appeared in three episodes of the earlier Hercules television series. Lucy Lowell starred as the homonymous character. The premise of the series unfolds mainly in ancient Greece and Italy (but also in other ancient sites), adapting Greek and Roman mythology to its needs. Very inaccurate series but extremely fun to watch! e24fc04721
