Making a mountain

Blog Entry 14.6.17: The resources are mounting....I'm finding it difficult to keep an accurate track as I develop and of course revise tasks and resources as I think of alternate ideas.

One of the best quotes I keep in mind from Ken Burns "cut your darlings!" Something I try to keep in the back of my mind while my unit keeps growing beyond what is most likely a reality scenario of 8-10 weeks of teaching. But always good to have lots of back ups and ideas for later development or extension opportunities for students. With this thought, I'm trying to now almost stocktake my resources, numbering them all and then compiling a unit topic powerpoint to summarise them, ideally linking for later and easy reference - I will see how this works.

The list continues....

  • Unit Powerpoint to try to collate everything
  • Many many many melodic, rhythmic and sight signing examples drawn from repertoire
  • Improvisation guideline sheet
  • Lead sheets
  • Countless sources
  • Videos (still in development) of demonstrating technology applications
  • Text book summaries
  • Composers insight pages
  • Variety of different scales including Raga and Octatonic for composition exercises and more…..
