I have the same problem as well. I am using Viewsonic VA2223wm monitor and trying to get the 865G graphics controller to go into 1920x1080 mode but without success. I have upgraded the 865G driver to v6.14.10.4396. But I still cannot see a resolution of 1920x1080. The operating system is Windows 2000.

I am having the same problem. I just purchased a Viewsonic VA2323wm 23" monitor with max. resolution of 1920 x 1080. but the best resolution I was able to get out of my Dell Dimension 3000 equipped with the Intel integrated Extreme Graphics 2 is 1280 x 1024. That makes the display stretch horizontally. I did research in the web. and downloaded the latest driver from Intel site but no help. Right now my latest working driver installed is 6.14.10.4396 and the best resolution from that is 1280 x 1024. I also downloaded the win2k_XP_14365_Intel_driver.exe (19.9MB) but when I tried to install it, I got a message " This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software ---- Setup will EXIT"; I also downloaded the sp26814 but when tried to install, I got message "----missing couple files and stopped"; I called Viewsonic support and they don't anything how to fix the resolution problem and directed me to contact Dell or Intel.

Well, I fixed the problem -- sort of. When I hook up the monitor to my Linux laptop, it displays in the 1920x1080 resolution without any problems. When I hook up the monitor to my Dell Optiplex running Windows 2000, it can only display upto 1280x1024. I talked to the Dell technical support and they were essentially of no help. It seems that the Intel 865G graphics card is capable of displaying the higher resolution, but no one at Dell could tell me how to get to that point. I already have the latest driver loaded in the Windows OS.

I run my Dell Dimension 3000 with the Linux (Ubuntu 8.041.1 CD), and I was able to get my Viewsonic VA2323wm monitor to display 1920 x 1080 resolution. in fact with the Linux installed in my Dell Dimension 3000 with the Intel integrated Extreme graphics 2 I was able to set to all the following monitor resolutions: 1920 x 1080; 1600 x 1200; 1680 x 1050; 1400 x 1050 ; 1280 x 1024; 1440 x 900; 1280 x 960; 1152 x 864; 1024 x 768; 832 x 624; 800 x 600 ; 640 x 480 ; 720 x 400. Seem to me the Dimension 3000 integrated graphic definitely can support the 1920 x 1080 resolution. The only problem is that Intel or Dell doesn't want to get us the updated driver to support the higher resolution. . Perhaps they want us to buy new graphic card!

Keep in mind if you have a OEM customized driver on your system this driver will not overwrite it. That is by design to protect the OEM customizations. If you are willing to take the risk and loose any graphics customizations for your system you can install the Intel driver using the have disk method. I would recommend saving a restore point before proceeding so you can revert back to previous settings if you are not satisfied with the results.

Also the error in your case is because the chipset is not able to recognize your EDID (Extended display identification data) from the monitor. If you are not willing to try the suggestion above you can also install the monitor drivers (provided by the monitor manufacturer). This will allow the chipset to display the supported resolutions of your monitor.

I too have experience the problem that everyone has mentioned. I attempted to update the 82865G driver with the Intel untested workaround. After selecting have disk, I saw a number of drivers listed, but none of them seem to be within the same family as the 865G driver. So, I did not complete the update.

i had same problem but i finally manage it up... not me but some other guys whos createt this custom driver for win xp and im finally able to use 1920x1080 on 82865g.. just uninstal your current driver for graphycs and run setup from this file restart pc and thats it..;)

I download the zip and installed the custom driver as you mentioned in your posting. Wow, it works for me too. After 3 years of waiting I finally get my monitor to display 1280 x 1024, That really looks great now. Thanks a million for the tip. That made my day!

After I downloaded and unzipped and tried to install the driver but I keep getting the message "All the components are not installed correctly, please try install again" I tried several times and got the same message. I had that 1920 x 1080 driver working good prior to my computer crash. Do you think that custom driver link is corrupted? anyone out there has the same problem recently?

I just installed Ubuntu 12.04.2 on a Gateway system. It has Intel i386 82865G onboard graphics. I've downloaded these drivers from the Intel page, they have "Linux" label, no specific version, the filename is "20030425-i386.tar.gz".

Just downloading 'generic Linux' drivers may not help very much. These at least need to be for Debian (Ubuntu is based on this) or RedHat/Fedora (the other main variant). Then you are going to have to modify and configure them to suit the environment (OS) ..

Thank you so much for your quick reply and access to the file. I was able to succesfully download the file. I see a total of 12 files in it. I tried to double click the one that is called "driver", but I get a response stating that an nfo file is not recognized.

If it doesn't install, repeat the process and when you are at the Browse my computer for driver software, select the Let Me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (at the bottom of that window), and then select Have Disk.

This time, drill down to the folder: Intel 82865g Driver (Vista-Win7)\ialmnt5, and select the Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM) device from the list and see if the driver installs that way.

The reason I ask is because I wonder weather I would benifit using your driver files instead. I have a problem playing some video files properly with a PC that is equiped with the 865G, specially the MP4's with e.g. 720p content. MKV's are allright. I am using VLC. I am seeing artifacs and frame skipping.

I had an idea to find a graphics card instead of trying to make the onboard graphics any better and that web browsing was as good as it gets with this PC. Which is already quite someting with the 'unofficial' driver and Windows 7! Thanks to this driver this still pretty nice PC is not stuck with XP.

Hi. I have a golden oldie of a laptop here I'm trying to breathe new life into. OS is Windows 7, 32-bit.

I tried following the solution given in the HP forum thread below, but the guy's OneDrive link doesn't work anymore. I can't seem to be able to PM him so I'm making this thread in hopes of somebody sharing the same driver file Paul_Tikkanen once uploaded.

OK, try this...Repeat the driver install steps, but this time if there is a list of Intel graphics adapters listed when you click on Have disk and you browse to the ialmnt5 setup information file, select this one from the list, and click next...select the one I highlighted in red.

Even for you to handle the graphical user interface functions, you just have to have the right drivers. All you need is just to run the executable file and you have the application installed in the system. Just in case you have compatibility challenges when using the graphics components then there is a possibility you lack the right drivers installed in the system.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter Cypress Semiconductor Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them. 0852c4b9a8
