You're Invited to Prepare for April General Conference with President Nelson's "Bicentennial of the First Vision" Challenge!
"I hope that every member and every family will prepare for a unique conference that will commemorate the very foundations of the restored gospel.” -- President Nelson
Our Ward is Rising to this Challenge with "A Ward Homework Project" (Due April 5, 2020)
Step 1: Before April Conference, write an “Heirloom Quality” document that tells your present and future relatives “Why I Believe the First Vision Occurred & Moments in My Life When I Have Seen the Lord’s Hand through the Restored Gospel.”
Step 2: Log into your FamilySearch.org account
Step 3: Post your document to your FamilySearch.org "Memories" wall. If you don't know how to do this, just ask!
Join us for a Relief Society Celebration! Tuesday, March 17th, 6:30 pm at the church. Come enjoy an evening of togetherness and sisterhood as we celebrate Relief Society. We will be serving dinner, decorating cupcakes, and having a short program.
Join the ward choir as we prepare for the sacrament meeting Easter, April 12th! Rehearsals are held Sunday following our meeting block at 11:05 AM in the Relief Society room. All are welcome to participate with a special invitation to new ward members and youth.
Seminary Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year has begun. This is a 2-part process.
1) Parents need to register Students using one of these ways:
2) Students need to make sure they have RELEASE TIME in their school schedule
Our ward will hold a goal night on Wednesday April 22 at 7 pm. The children and youth of our ward have chosen goals they want to work on in four areas—spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual. They want to share their goals and interests with the adults of the ward. A list of youth interests and goals will be circulated soon. We invite the adults of the ward to review the list of goals, and if you feel able to help with any of them (or you have a talent or skill that you would like to share that is not listed) we invite you to share your skill that evening.
On April 27th the adults and youth/children will take turns circulating through the cultural hall and classrooms seeing what skills and talents each have to share. We encourage you to prepare a simple poster or show-and-tell visual aid (eg. tools, paintings, music, etc.) showcasing your skills and talents and maybe the kinds of projects the youth and children might want to consider doing with your help and encouragement (eg. “Ask me about starting a garden from seed” or “Ask me about basic ASL”). We’ll have tables set up in classrooms where everyone can lay out what they want to show. The youth and children will also be preparing visual aids to showcase their talents and skills so all members can view each other’s talents, skills, and goals.
The purpose of the evening is to expose the youth and children to what Bishop Walker calls “The Storehouse of the Lord.” It’s the talents and skills each of us can share. We want to have conversations with the youth and children that will help them get to know who they could potentially work with on their goals. Please contact any member of the Ward Council (Priesthood leader or president of any auxiliary) with any questions or if you would like to participate. Save the date.
Dear Singers,
Rex Ripplinger, our Stake Music Chair, has set the rehearsal schedule for 4:00 PM each Sunday beginning 16 FEB until Stake Conference weekend. The choir will be performing at the Saturday evening and Sunday sessions of stake conference in March.
All voices are needed and encouraged to participate.
The choir will be performing Max Wilberg arrangements of well-known hymns.
If you plan to participate please let our ward choir director, Stevan Davis (801.836.5678), so Brother Ripplinger can be informed.
Our stake is hosting a blood drive with Red Cross on March 13, 2020, in our stake center from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. We are grateful to those who have been donors in the past and for your efforts to have donors sign up.
In order to manage sign ups, Red Cross has created a specific sign up sheet for our blood drive. It is our hope that donors will use this method to sign up for a time to donate. This will avoid duplication on multiple paper signup sheets. The link to our blood drive is as follows:
https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=ProvoEdgemontstake
Once on the site an account can be created (or a previous account accessed) to sign up for a specific time. We have 55 times available that afternoon and evening and hope to fill all of them.
The BYU family History Library is open on Sundays from noon to 8:00pm! Patrons can receive individual help on family history or attend specific classes for help in various research topics. Check out the class offerings at https://fh.lib.byu.edu>sunday classes
The Sunday schedule for 2020 followed throughout the Church includes a 60-minute sacrament meeting and, after a 10-minute transition, a 50-minute class period.
The 50-minute class period for youth and adults will alternate each Sunday according to the following schedule:
