The Heisei Kamen Rider Series (平成仮面ライダーシリーズ, Heisei Kamen Raidā Shirīzu) is the second production era of the Kamen Rider Series. It refers to Heisei (平成), also known as the Heisei era, the period of Japanese history corresponding to the reign of the Heisei Emperor, Akihito, from January 8, 1989, the first day after the death of the previous Emperor, Hirohito, father of Akihito, to his abdication on April 30th, 2019, announced years earlier, in August 2016, causing the media for the era last years to acknowledge the end of the era. In accordance with Japanese customs, Akihito will be posthumously renamed "Emperor Heisei", upon his future death.
1. 仮面ライダークウガ
Kamen Rider Kuuga (仮面ライダークウガ, Kamen Raidā Kūga, Masked Rider Kuuga) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama in Toei Company's Kamen Rider Series. It is the first series to debut in the Heisei Era, and the fourteenth overall. Production as a joint collaboration between Ishimori Productions and Toei Company, the series premiered on January 30, 2000, joining Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive on TV Asahi. After the finale of GoGoFive, Kuuga was joined by Mirai Sentai Timeranger.
The series is the first to be broadcast in widescreen format (albeit presented in a letterbox format). The taglines for the series are "Henshin." (変身。) and "A New Hero, A New Legend".
2. 仮面ライダーアギト
Kamen Rider Agito (仮面ライダーアギト, Kamen Raidā Agito, Masked Rider ΑGITΩ), is a Japanese tokusatsu drama in Toei Company's Kamen Rider Series. It is the second entry to debut in the Heisei Era and the fifteenth overall. Created as a joint collaboration to celebrate the franchise's 30 anniversary, the series premiered on January 28, 2001, joining Mirai Sentai Timeranger for a brief moment, in the Super Hero Time lineup.
After Mirai Sentai Timeranger ended, Timeranger got replaced with Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger.
The catchphrase for the series is: "Awaken the soul." (目覚めろ、その魂。, Mezamero, sono tamashii).
Kamen Rider Ryuki (仮面ライダー龍騎, Kamen Raidā Ryūki, Masked Rider Ryuki) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. It was the sixteenth installment in the Kamen Rider Series of tokusatsu shows. It was a joint collaboration between Ishimori Productions and Toei, and it was shown on TV Asahi from February 3, 2002 to January 19, 2003 and it joined Ninpu Sentai Hurricanegeron TV Asahi's Super Hero Time. The taglines for the series are "Henshin!! And Advent!!" (変身!!そしてアドベントせよ!!, Henshin!! Soshite adobento seyo!!) and "Those who don't fight won't survive!" (戦わなければ生き残れない!, Tatakawanakereba, ikinokorenai!). In 2009, Ryuki was adapted into the American television series Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, the first adaptation of a Kamen Rider Series in the United States since Saban's Masked Rider in 1996.
Kamen Rider 555 (Faiz) (仮面ライダー555ファイズ, Kamen Raidā Faizu, Masked Rider Φ's) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama and the 17th installment of the Kamen Rider Series. Debuting as the fourth entry of the Heisei Era, the series premiered on January 26, 2003 alongside Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger on TV Asahi's Super Hero Time block, and ended its 50-episode run on January 18, 2004.
The catchphrase for the series is "Dashing instinct" (疾走する本能, "Shissō suru honnō").
Kamen Rider Blade (仮面ライダー剣ブレイド, Kamen Raidā Bureido, Masked Rider ♠ or Blade), is a Japanese tokusatsu drama and the 18th installment of the Kamen Rider Series. Debuting as the 5th entry of the Heisei Era, the show premiered on January 25, 2004 alongside Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger on TV Asahi's Super Hero Time block, and finished its 49-episode run on January 23, 2005.
The show is the final series to run on 60 fps. Along with the standard insect motif of the Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider Blade also uses a playing card motif, with each rider being assigned a suit from a deck of cards. The series' taglines are "Take the trump card of fate!!" (運命の切札をつかみ取れ!!, Unmei no kirifuda o tsukamitore!!) and "Now your power is at its peak." (今、その力が展開する, Ima, sono chikara ga tenkai suru).
Kamen Rider Hibiki (仮面ライダー響鬼ヒビキ, Kamen Raidā Hibiki, Masked Rider Hibiki) is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero television series. It is the nineteenth installment in the popular Kamen Rider Series of tokusatsu programs. It was a joint collaboration between Ishimori Productions and Toei. The show premiered on January 30, 2005 and aired its final episode on January 22, 2006. It aired alongside Tokuso Sentai Dekarangerand later, Mahou Sentai Magiranger on the Super Hero Time block. This series is noted for introducing new themes and styles yet unseen in other shows. The catchphrase for the series is "To us, there are heroes." (ぼくたちには、ヒーローがいる。, Bokutachi ni wa, hīrō ga iru).
Kamen Rider Kabuto (仮面ライダーカブト, Kamen Raidā Kabuto, Masked Rider Kabuto[1]) is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero television series and serves as the twentieth installment of the Kamen Rider Series. It was a joint collaboration between Ishimori Productions and Toei. The show aired on TV Asahi from January 29, 2006 to January 21, 2007, airing alongside Mahou Sentai Magirangerfor a brief period before it replaced with GoGo Sentai Boukenger for Super Hero Time. The series commemorates the franchise's 35th anniversary and was the first to be broadcast in HD.
The series' catchphrases are "I am justice" (俺が正義, Ore ga seigi) and "Walking the path of heaven, to rule everything!" (天の道を行き、総てを司る!, Ten no michi o iki, subete o tsukasadoru!).
Kamen Rider Den-O (仮面ライダー電王, Kamen Raidā Den'ō, Masked Rider Den-O) is the twenty-first installment in the popular Kamen Rider Series of tokusatsu programs. It is a joint collaboration between Ishimori Productions and Toei. It premiered January 28, 2007 on TV Asahi, and concluded airing on January 20, 2008. It first aired alongside GoGo Sentai Boukenger for a brief period before joining Juken Sentai Gekiranger on Super Hero Time. Its lead actor, Takeru Satoh, is the first Kamen Rider Series lead born in the Heisei period.
Continuing the trend, Kamen Rider Den-O also had a third film released in October 2008, the first for any Kamen Rider series and a second series of 12 OVA shorts was released in November 2008. Takeru Satoh claims that the reason that Den-O has amassed such popularity is because of its comedic timing. A fourth film was released on May 1, 2009, and three more released in the summer of 2010.
Kamen Rider Kiva (仮面ライダーキバ, Kamen Raidā Kiba, Masked Rider Kiva) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series produced by Toei Company and Ishimori Productions as part of the Kamen Rider Series. It premiered on January 27, 2008, following the finale of Kamen Rider Den-O. It aired as a part of TV Asahi's 2008 Super Hero Time block with Juken Sentai Gekiranger for a brief period before joining with Engine Sentai Go-Onger. Advertisements showed a horror film theme to the series, with the motif for Kamen Rider Kiva as a vampire. The tagline for the series is "Wake up! Break the chains of destiny" (Wake up!運命の鎖を解き放て, Weiku appu! Sadame no kusari o tokihanate). The first episode began with a commemoration of the series in honor of the seventieth anniversary of Shotaro Ishinomori's birthday.
Kamen Rider Decade (仮面ライダーディケイドDCD, Kamen Raidā Dikeido, "Masked Rider DCD"/"Masked Rider Decade") is a Japanese tokusatsu drama. It is the 23rd entry of the Kamen Rider Series and the 10th entry in the Heisei era, commemorating the Heisei Kamen Rider 10th Anniversary. It premiered on January 25, 2009 and joined Engine Sentai Go-Ongerfor a short while untill it joined with Samurai Sentai Shinkenger on TV Asahi's Super Hero Time block. After Kamen Rider Decade concluded earlier than usual on August 30, 2009, Shinkenger was joined by Kamen Rider W, which continued the the Heisei Kamen Rider 10th Anniversary campaign.
The catchphrases for the series are "Heisei Rider? 10 years early!" (平成ライダー? 10年早えよ!, Heisei Raidā? Jūnen haeyo!) and "Connect everything by destroying everything" (全てを破壊し、全てを繋げ, Subete o hakaishi, subete o tsunage).
