75by75
75by75
There’s currently no prevention or cure for dementia, the leading cause of death of Australians. Realising I wanted to do my part to help change these things, I set about this 75by75 campaign.
Margaret, my dear mum, had dementia, and passed away shortly after her she turned 75.
With Mum in mind, I set myself the goal of raising $75,000
by the time I'm 75 myself.
Mostly, I am raising funds through exercise-based challenges that help me keep active and promote good brain and heart health.
As I raise funds and take on challenges, I now also think of my dad, Des, who was a great supporter of this fundraising effort, as well as a life-long supporter of Margaret.
Funds raised are received directly by Dementia Australia, which delivers support services, education, advocacy and critical research grants to both fight and alleviate this disease.
Thank you for any support you can contribute,
Mark

I’m considering this a life-long project that will require that I 'give, get and gather'.
By the time I am 75, I’ll have raised $75,000 for Dementia Australia through a combination of:
Personal giving
Undertaking personal challenge-based fundraising
Encouraging others to join in challenges
Fundraising events
You can make a secure, tax-deductible contribution to the 75by75 campaign at any time, through the GiveNow portal. All funds flow directly to Dementia Australia and will be counted towards my $75,000 goal.

In 2020, I completed a virtual 9.5km Memory Walk & Jog organised by Dementia Australia
In 2021, I competed in a real-life 10km Memory Walk & Jog event in Melbourne
In 2022, I again competed in the real-life 10km Memory Walk & Jog event in Melbourne
In 2023, I again completed the 10km Memory Walk & Jog in Melbourne
In 2024, I moved to Hobart and registered for the 12km City to Casino fun run, but needed to pull out due to injury :(
In 2025, I raised funds through a Memory Walk & Jog "My Way" fun run
In 2026, I raised funds by walking the 7lm City to Casino fun run.
Here's a video that I made about the first Memory Jog event I undertook to raise funds.
And here's an Instagram post shared by the good folk at Dementia Australia about my participation in their events. It neatly explains my passion for supporting their programs.
