Practical Tools for Conflict, Challenging Behaviors, and Group Dynamics
Facilitating the Room is a full-day, highly interactive professional-development workshop for people responsible for guiding conversations, meetings, teams, and groups when tension rises, participation becomes uneven, or the discussion begins to drift.
This is not a sit-and-listen training. Participants will practice concrete tools for hearing multiple perspectives, organizing participation, redirecting challenging moments, and staying grounded while holding the room.

Group conversations rarely become difficult on schedule. This workshop gives participants practical tools for responding when tension rises, participation becomes uneven, one voice begins to dominate, or the conversation starts slipping away from its purpose.
Participants will practice how to listen for meaning, organize multiple voices, redirect challenging moments, and remain grounded while holding the room.
Participants will practice how to:
Bring structure to conversations without silencing participation
Respond when tension, repetition, tangents, or competing voices disrupt the room
Redirect challenging moments without escalating conflict
Remain grounded while guiding groups through discomfort
This workshop is designed for:
Facilitators and trainers
Managers and supervisors
Nonprofit and community leaders
Educators and student-support professionals
Board and committee leaders
People responsible for guiding meetings, teams, or group conversations
No formal facilitation title or prior training is required.
