Why did you join Scouting?: As a youth, i progressed through Beavers, cubs and Scouts. After a period of time away from Scouting at College and University, i then offered my assistance at a local scout group- the 46th Coventry. Over almost 20 years there, i held various roles, including Quartermaster, Helper, Assistant Leader, Section Leader, Group Chair and Group Scout Leader.
I am now the GSL here at the 66th. Something born of my passion for Special Education and Scouting. I felt the time was right to enable scouting to be accessed by a wider range of youngsters with additional needs, and our wonderful, fully accessible scout group was established.
I want to show the world that these youngsters really can achieve so much, and are just amazing!
Favourite part of scouting?: Seeing young people achieve things they didn't believe they could. Allowing them the knowledge and time to learn skills that will help them progress to become the best they can be.
Of course - we also all love the exciting adventurous activities we do, and CAMPS!

Favourite part of Scouting?:

Hobbies & Interests:
Reading has always been important to me. I try to set time aside each day to relax and unwind with a good book.
My newfound interest is making the most of our new campervan Violet and heading out on adventures as much as possible!!
Why did you join scouting?:
I originally joined scouting as a temporary position, as a favour, until a new beaver leader could be found. It's been 3 years now, and I am that new beaver leader! Obviously, the person who asked me to do it knew how much I would love it and wouldn't want to leave.
Favourite part of Scouting?:
When I see the children loving what they do, whether it's for badges, general group nights, or camps. It makes me feel proud to know that I've helped put that smile on their face, or that I've helped them accomplish something new. It means that we, as a group of leaders, are planning and working as a successful team, and the children benefit from this.
Hobbies & Interests:
I love spending time and making memories with my family and friends. I love a good box set or film in my pjs with a good brew. I like reading and going on holiday. I like to do arts and crafts like cross stitch.
Why did you join scouting?:
I joined scouting because it gives children the ability to access and experience a wide range of skills and activities.
Favourite part of Scouting?:
My favourite thing is seeing the kids develop and grow in skills but also in confidence and socially. If you need a specific activity - then hot chocolates round the fire pits!
Hobbies & Interests:
I have many hobbies from arts and crafts - things like painting, sketching, cross-stitch and crotchet - to keeping active with long-distance walking; I am an avid reader too!
Why did you join scouting?:
I joined scouting because I saw it as an opportunity to try something new and help young people try something new too. I also wanted to build upon my skills of working with young people, particularly those with additional needs.
