Built in 1940 on former farmland, 908 S. Main Street was the home of Roy and Emma (Reeves) Morris. By 1942, they had made 908 their home.
Roy was a WABCO guy throughout his life, but around 1952, he and Emma started another venture, a florist shop at their residence.
The florist shop did well for a few years, but in 1958, the Morris' leased it to Frank Loveridge. Loveridge was part of the Loveridge family that ran the Loveridge Floral Shop on Main Street in Peoria from 1899 to 1966.
Unfortunately, Loveridge Floral only lasted one season and closed by the end of 1958. The building has been a private residence ever since.
Frank Loveridge moved to the bartending profession and passed away in 1976. In 1979, Roy and Emma Morris were killed in a tragic auto accident near Springfield.
