Updates From the Westport Weston Family Y

THE WESTPORT WESTON FAMILY YMCA IS EXCITED ABOUT OUR UPCOMING CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS, WHICH WILL:

• Bring gymnastics back home to our campus from Norwalk.
• Continue to enhance and increase the program space for our members in our building.
• Enrich and enhance the amenities and facilities at Camp Mahackeno.

BUILDING ADDITION

• The addition is a 22,000 sf, two-story building connected to the current building.
• Lower level: Allows for the expansion of high-demand, existing wellness services for current members (group exercise, spinning, youth programs, dance, stretching area)
• Upper level: Return the existing gymnastics program from Norwalk to the main campus with an extension of the current Kid’s Club space.
• Adding 70 parking spots.

CAMP RENOVATIONS

• New pool and splash pad to modernize our current outdoor facility and enhance programming, including swim lessons.
• New pool house.
• Re-grade athletic field to enhance usable space for outdoor sports activities.
• Relocate archery area.
• Install two giant slides on the hill, tucked into existing grading and vegetation.
• Expand the playground to include equipment for older children in complement to the existing playground equipment.
• Re-furbish and improve the existing outdoor amphitheater.
• Plan to refurbish Beck Lodge and winterize the building.

TIMING

Both the camp improvements and the addition to the facility will begin in September 2019. The camp will be completed and ready to open in June 2020. The building addition will be completed around September of 2020.

COST

The total goal of the renovation project is $25 Million –– The combined funding for the project will come from various sources including a capital campaign, our endowment, and financing.
