Reading

The Wonders program is an engaging and rich program that brings reading to life for students. It provides opportunities for differentiation and levels independence. The spiral design helps to solidify strategies for students, introducing them to a variety of nonfiction and fiction texts. The essential questions allow for opportunities throughout the week to integrate concepts across discipline areas, such as science, social studies, spelling, language, writing, and technology.

Math

GO Math! provides a path to ensure that students can access content at appropriate levels of depth and rigor. A wealth of resources for the classroom and beyond provide the tools students need to embrace math.

There will also be an outstanding online spiral review that can serve as a study point for parents and students daily. This will be available as a part of our asynchronous learning. It is also essential that students practice multiplication math facts regularly.

Science

Mystery Science offers lessons that inspire kids to love science. The units are crafted to address students' curiosity about the world and help them think critically. Kids piece concepts together around interesting questions. The hands-on activity and video clues make it easy to re-create the process of scientific discovery for your students.

Social Studies

The study of how our country began is the focus of study in fifth grade. We will start with the study colonization and the development of the Thirteen Colonies. As the colonist began to grow they wanted to become a country of their own, this caused the beginning of the American Revolution. This is an exciting event in history to study. Will end with Westward Expansion as we look at how the United States grew as the country gained independence and sought land west of the Appalachian Mountains.
