Let’s get to know each other!
I was born and raised in upstate New York! I relocated to Virginia in 2014 and love it here. I live with my boyfriend in Staunton, I am a mother to FIVE beautiful girls and two furry pups. I just had twins girls this spring #girlmomforever. I LOVE food, coffee, all kinds of music, the mountains and budgeting. Random right, but I could talk about it for hours. I talk way too much and way too fast. My house is always loud and never boring! My favorite food is ice cream, and probably all breakfast foods!! My favorite color is sage green. And you can almost always find me in a pair of converse.
Fun fact! I am hard of hearing, and fluent in American Sign Language. I am a teacher at Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind and have worked there for over 10 years! I have a hearing aid in my left ear and I’ve had one since I was 4 years old.
I started my photography journey in high school taking film photography classes and fell in love! I continued film through college, and started diving into the world of digital photography when my daughter Amalea was born in 2015. I am self taught and eager to keep learning each and every day.
My why?
My mom always took pictures, ALWAYS. We have bins full of every event, party, trip, you name it! But… she was hardly in them. So when she passed in 2016 it really struck hard not having many photos of her. Then I realized, there’s not many pictures of me and my kids, besides the selfies we take. And I see so many mammas capturing their families, but where are they?
I’m guilty… feeling like I’m not put together, my hair hasn’t been washed, I look like a mess!
But I realize now, the pictures and the memories are far more important. So I cherish being able to capture families together. Take the pictures, schedule the sessions, get glammed up or keep it casual. It doesn’t matter! Just take the pictures! You’ll never regret the memories you have captured.
So to honor my mama, that's where Five Twenty One comes from. That’s her birthday. And it’s my goal to capture as many memories as I can.
So let’s capture those sweet precious moments together, you won’t regret it!
