Tonight as we go to bed, after switching off our TV's, having watched a Movie or maybe eaten a Takeaway, an evening out with friends or family?........there's people just a few miles from our front doors that are looking for somewhere to sleep! Somewhere to stay safe for the night and somewhere where they can stay dry or out of the blowing wind. Going to bed Hungry, Scared & Worried what the future holds for them.......they need OUR HELP!!

Why are they homeless? Why are they not being cared for in a shelter? No-one should be living on the streets? Many feel alone, defenseless, helpess and some even suicidal. The statistics for homeless in the UK are staggering with an estimated 320,000 people being homeless in the UK. Sadly numbers are growing, widening issues of poverty and mental health provision means since 2010 the numbers have almost doubled. 726 people died while homeless in England & Wales in 2018. Average age of homeless in the UK is just 45 for male and 43 for female.

Our Mission as a Team of 50!!
Our Mission as a Team of 50!!
We have an opportunity to help 50 local homeless people by creating 50 homeless backpacks. Each backpack will be created by each person individually. Each backpack is a vital survival pack that will have essential pieces of kit, medical supplies, sleeping bag, meal vouchers, sweets, gloves, thermal socks, hat, food and much more along with a personal message from YOU handwritten. A few personal message examples will be displayed.

Each backpack costs just £60. The pack is created by obtaining sponsors from work colleagues, friends and family to help create your homeless backpack. Obtaining £60 worth of sponsorship over 3-4 months should be very easily obtained. The sponsor forms are supplied, the backpack links for your items are also downloadable, all that is needed is YOUR SUPPORT, the rest will fall into place quite easily.

When will the homeless backpacks need to be ready? On April 19th 2020 we will arrange a sponsored walk, jog, pub crawl along Weston-super-Mare promenade, here is when we will need our backpacks ready for our 50 STRONG photo. All backpacks will be delivered to our Local Shelter and ready for local distribution to those who desperately need them.

We aim to make sure the backpacks are handed out amongst our local homeless people in Weston-super-Mare and Somerset. With 80 people registered as homeless within our local community we sadly won't have enough homeless backpacks but we will hopefully open our cause to continue to create another 50 homeless backpacks within many communities by repeating this simple process.
