50 CHEERS FOR
50 YEARS!
50 CHEERS FOR
50 YEARS!
To mark the year in which I'm heading towards my 50th birthday, I’ve set myself a challenge:
50 acts of giving back to the community.
Over the coming year, I’ll be taking on marathons, half marathons, music gigs, auctions, and plenty more, all in support of five charities that have played an important part in my life.
The charities I’ll be supporting are:
Great Ormond Street Hospital – for the life-changing work they do for children and their families.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home – caring for and rehoming animals in need.
Reach Inclusive Arts - transforming the lives of local people with disabilities through the power of the arts.
Shelter – helping to fight homelessness and unsafe housing.
SANDS – supporting those affected by the loss of a baby.
This journey is about celebrating life, giving thanks, and helping to make a difference for others. It all starts September 23rd 2025 and ends on my 50th BIRTHDAY, September 23rd 2026.
I’d love for you to follow along, get involved, and support these causes with me.
Thanks for the support.
Robert xx
ACT 1: Swindon Half Marathon Sunday 28th September 2025

Still smiling, but that hill was a killer!
The first of many medals to come!
Act 2: Bournemouth Half Marathon Sunday 12th October 2025

And we are off!
The last bit around the pier.
Boscombe! Medal and winners shirt - celebrating in the sun!
Thank you to all donations received so far. We've only just begun!
Act 3: Cirencester Half Marathon Sunday 2nd November
Race Day Ready!
Bit of a Halloween Twist
Ooh, I can feel it in me bones!
Another one done!!
Thank you to all donations received so far. We've only just begun!
Act 4: Walton on Thames, Surrey - Half Marathon - Remembrance Sunday 9th November
Before ... smiling
During ... smiling
After... still smiling
Such a beautiful medal.
Act 5: Walk for Home 10K in London - Raising funds for SHELTER
The reason Behind this act and why it means so much to me is because it supports shelter. It also recognises the fact that one thing we wish to see above our heads is a roof and a place we can call home. lastly it takes me back to those visions when I first visited London amongst other cities and how you see people walking the streets carrying their lives on their backs going from day to day doing what they can to get by.
Act 6: 7th December - 25 kilometres - Wonderland Walk for Great Ormond Street Hospital
Up early wrapped up warm coffee and crumpets and off I went on my virtual walk at 7:04 a.m. All of these pictures form the connection to my childhood and feature homes I lived in, schools I went to, recreational pursuits and of course the memory of the hospital I was born in - Princess Margaret.
Quite an emotional walk as I passed so many memories; including my very first dentist visit, Grandad's home and key places around Swindon the whole memories dear my heart.
Act 7: Sunday 13th December - Half Marathon - Victoria Park, London
So back up to London, Victoria Park this time and ready for a half marathon. A dry but very fresh day and as it's nearing to Christmas - well you have to do, what you have to do.
By the end a couple of sore legs but with a time of two hours 30 minutes and 59 seconds act 7 was complete.
Act 8: 🦌🦌❄️❄️ Reindeer Run 24 Miles! ❄️❄️ 🦌🦌 Starts 16th December 2025
Now I know what you're all thinking, yes I have the cutest reindeer in my life. Well for now he's a reindeer, tomorrow he's a Wookie. Take a bow Chewie!
What I personally love about this charity act, is that it is not just supporting my five charities, it also means that I can support the RNLI, which is where the 24 miles come into it - a mile an hour for all the times that they're on call, saving lives.
All in all, a Wookie dressed as a reindeer, five charities as well as the additional one supported and 24 miles out on the road. (Thankfully not all at once.)
If anyone would like to join me so that I don't get lost you are more than welcome.
❄️🦌❄️🦌❄️🦌❄️🦌❄️🦌
Just wanted to give you a chance to see some highlights and to thank you all for your kind words of support.
I appreciate every single penny raised.
Update on the total now... £200!!!
I have already given 2026 a name - Completion Year! With 42 Acts to complete it is going to be a busy one for sure.
Thank you for everyone's support, it means a lot. Let's all make 2026 a truly fantastic year!
Act 9: First for 2026! 3rd January 2026 - FA Cup Half Marathon - Milton Keynes
In a World Cup Year, we are reminded that our only triumph was in 1966 - a decade before I was born. As the saying goes "If you remember the 60's, then you wasn't there!"
10 years ago, I wore this shirt to front a Britpop based tribute band, performing on a stage as part of the Old Town festivities, Today I participated in the FA Cup Half Marathon.
At a steady plodding pace on the ice, contemplating my best Torvil & Dean routine and with a time of 3 hours and 11 minutes, Act 9 is complete.
Made some friends along the way...
Act 10: The Wonder Walk! 30 KILOMETRES!!! Sunday 11th January 2026
Anyone that knows me, will know I have several ideas/ thoughts going through my head, always building a connection that makes 50 Acts of Giving Back not just unique, but special - forging memories.
These two incredible people are my mum and dad. They have been married for nearly 55 years. This picture was taken over Christmas and naturally I have been thinking about how I could incorporate then into Act 10.
Memories took me to 1996 and the excitement of seeing Oasis at Knebworth. On the date of my walk, it will be 30 years since Oasis performed their hit song Wonderwall on Top Of The Pops. So this walk, inspired by my amazing parents and Oasis will be a 30km walk to Cricklade and back.
"Maybe. You're gonna be the one that saves me? And after all, you're my WONDER 🚶 WALK!!
Thank you to all donations received so far.
I am so grateful for the difference it is making!
Act 11: Valentines Half Marathon February 14th 2026 Suffolk ❤️❤️❤️
Can you feel your legs tonight? Only one more mile to go...
Remember I said it would be a wet day? Well it couldn't be further from what was predicted. Yes it was a tad bit cold when I set off, leaving here around 5am to my running destination, only 110 miles away.
On this occasion my number was 63 and before long I was on my way running through glorious countryside roads, which naturally come with a few hills. With a time of 3:02:32 Act 11 was complete. Thank you for all your messages and kind words of encouragement. x
Act 12: 50 Cup-Cakes of Love! Shared in the community ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you to all of you for your donations for the cupcakes. x
Can't believe it... We are so close to £500 already.
Definitely feeling the love! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Act 13: London Half Marathon Olympic Park 1st March 2026
All ready to run!!
Getting warmed up and ready!
I did it!
Thank you London - Good night!
Act 14: Liverpool Half Marathon 15th March 2026
This is amazing! So close to £1000 now.
I have 6 months left to do the best that I can do. I really want to make £1000 for each charity if possible. I know with your help I can do this.
Still feeling the love! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you xx
Act 15: Devizes Half Marathon 22nd March 2026
A little about why I selected these charities...
Act 16: Walkie Talkie Tower Climb - London 28th March 2026 - Great Ormond Street Hospital
Yep 896 Steps!
ACT 16 - WALKIE TALKIE TOWER CLIMB GREAT ORMAND STREET HOSPITAL
SATURDAY 28TH MARCH 2026 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
Now for something completely different! So I’m heading back to London but on this occasion, I’m walking up a very big building - looks like a giant mobile phone, lots of glass so probably not great if you are not a fan of heights…..Oh and it has 896 Steps! 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
What I really love about this though is that it gives me the opportunity of sharing one of my chosen and championing charities for a year - Great Ormand Street Hospital, so why this charity? 🩵🩵🩵
However you look at it, children are unique and they bring joys into our lives, educate us and look upon us as their heroes, whether you are a parent, guardian or a teacher. They also go through their own challenges and through their own bravery, courage and determination, they are faced with everyday battles yet they continue to be a tower of strength that enlightens the lives of those around them - after all, the celebration of love is all that we need! 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
I will forever be thankful for the childhood I had and even though, I was born with a dislocated hip and that child that always used to dislocate his collar bone, I was always patched up good at my local Princess Margaret Hospital, however my childhood and that of another childhood is the connection that links this altogether and this is why I chose GOSH! 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
So you’ll notice 3 GOSH tops in this picture, one of which I can wear to fitness classes , another of which I will explain in due course and the other one is my Walkie Talkie Tower Climb shirt and my number is 173. The other point to mention is that it is also celebrates its 10th Year Anniversary this event has been hosted! 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
So now it’s over to you, 50 ACTS OF GIVING BACK 🩵🩵🩵🩵
Click on GREAT ORMAND STREET HOSPITAL and Please Donate, thank you!
The Warmest of regards, Robert XXXXX 🩵🩵
Act 17: Manchester Marathon 19th April 2026 - Great Ormond Street Hospital
After checking in on the Saturday and being really well looked after, I was good, continued the carb loading with a huge pizza that I demolished in no time and an apple and mango J2O to wash it down, had a coffee, a bit of chocolate, set my alarm and watched a bit of snooker before having a good nights sleep!
Then onto the big day, up early, showered, changed and had a sensible breakfast - touched base with a lovely couple Jamie and Lucy who allowed me to share their uber ride and then made the journey to Trafford followed by a short journey to a certain football ground! No mention of the name, it’s included in the pictures!
Soon for the off and one of those events that I had no idea where I was going but I can say the participation of the stewards and crowds were absolutely amazing and I always enjoy reading the novelty signage boards - the best one for me is ‘You’re running better than the government’ clearly several people were plodding and carrying injuries and in several places the terrain along with the warm weather was a tad challenging - I would like to thank a lovely lady by the name of Lauren for accompanying me for half of the marathon and yes, I was tight in stages and I dug in deep to the end!
So I suppose you would like to know how I did? Well I have a new PB so with a time of 6:56:24 Act 17 was complete!
Presented with a lovely medal, more goodies, my finishers t-shirt and the odd picture before getting an uber back to my hotel. Had a more substantial meal before leaving for home - surprisingly it’s not hard to drive but just a challenge to get out of the car. Still, lovely rest and onwards and upwards!
I would actually like to leave this post by saying how truly thankful I’m am for you supporting me and donating towards the charities I’m championing - my hope is that I don’t over promote to the point you get tired of what I’m trying to achieve but when I was putting this together, a lot of thought went into it and I was kind of like, it’s all or nothing so give it everything I got but please don’t ever feel you have to donate if you don’t want to - ofcourse I would like you to but I appreciate we are all engaged in this thing called life. And always remember I may not always see you but I equally look at your posts and I am equally excited and encouraged by what you do! So thank you for everything you do and the inspired stories you bring to the table!
So what’s next for me - to rest up, get some new legs (well kind of the same ones but with a glazed Polish) and go again - to say that May is busy is an understatement! So as always, stay tuned!
GOSH - you’ll be pleased to know hit its halfway house target and a little more and currently stands at £510 which is incredible!
Thank you so much for getting behind this incredible charity!
Again, please if you would like to sponsor me, I encourage you to visit my pinned website at the top of the page or I can send you the link.
With the warmest of hugs and a bucketful of love, Robert XXXXX
50 ACTS OF GIVING BACK
Act 18: Walking Carpet 5K - May the walk be with you! Lydiard Park 4th May 2026
For the non star wars fans, it's what Leia calls Chewie)
So after regaining the feeling in my legs from Manchester Marathon, I decided to start this month with something easier and light hearted - with the theme of Star Wars on my mind. (May the Fourth)
My dog Chewie is named after my favourite character and this being a nice 5K walk and with those words that Princess Leia used to describe Chewbacca - The Walking Carpet 5K was born.
Chewie and I loved our walk together. Yes he stopped several times but we eventually made it.
Thank you again for all donations. Update coming soon. xx
Act 19: 50 Bakes of Joy 8th -10th April 2026
The cupcakes were such a success, that 50 more bakes will be shared.
Act 20: Great Bristol Half Marathon 10th May 2026 -
After involving myself in a 30 mile bike ride in preparation for another act on the Saturday - more of that to come. I then went from cycling to running - I’m on my way to being a tri athlete at this rate!
To the Sunday, well rested, a nice sleep - well kind of, up at 5am, a lovely breakfast, kit on and before you know it, out on the road with Mum and Dad on the way to Bristol, parked up and made the short walk to the runners enclosure.
A few piccies - not entirely sure about the caption ‘This is the moment I’ve waited for’ still, I’m the kind of person who’s caption should read ‘I’ll have a go’ is more appropriate - as I discovered in Liverpool, not a fan of running on cobbles or even uneven services but made my way around. Always listening to my body but always keeping the legs moving - that running part to and from under the Clifton suspension bridge went on forever and then finally with just over a mile to go, It was lovely to be greeted with all the crowds - they really do make you feel incredible! With the end insight and with a time of 3:08:37, Act 20 was complete!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Look how close I am to £2000!
I have just 4 months left to do the best that I can do. I really want to make £1000 for each charity if possible. I know with your help I can do this. Still feeling the love! ♥️ Thank you xx
Act 21: Rocky Half Marathon - The Last Hop, Staines, Surrey Saturday 16th May 2026
Like always, up early after a good nights sleep contemplating the day that lies ahead. A good breakfast and an energy powdered sachet in my bottle of water, then after getting myself ready and mum and dad out on the road supporting me, it was time for the off!
Yes the pictures are the attire for the day and I was presented with my number on the day, on this occasion I was 94.
The plan was to negotiate 13 miles wearing a couple of attachments. As always, it was never about the time and today’s participation was clear example of this considering I needed to stop every so often for a glucose tablet, the odd photo and the warmth certainly played its part. As this was an out and back event, I was also surprised that after just over 4 miles, to be cheered as if I had finished but no, another 9 miles to go! With a time of 3hrs6 having ran 13:10 miles, ACT 21 was complete!
What I really loved about the day is that other than Saturn putting on a fantastic event, one of the event organisers handcrafted the medals and I absolutely love my medal, such a novelty thing to have and in the year where the film Rocky turns 50!
I would also like to say a mention to so many really lovely people I met along the way, including one guy who even dressed up as Apollo Creed - Full attire!
Act 22: Edinburgh Marathon - Running for SANDS - Sunday 24th May 2026
Sunday arrived! Up, changed, a very light breakfast, a glorious morning, made my way to bag drop/start pen, ate my banana, a few piccies and then with the time to go approaching, off I went with several thousand crazy people!
The best thing about this race and clear winner is the landscape, that coastline, Gosford Park, incredible scenes and so it’s no surprise that I stopped a few more times to experience those views - WOW!
With every passing minute, another mile was chalked off and finally that glorious 26 popped up and just around the corner, the finish was insight - I finished strong and felt good and no injuries although I did discover, I have a lovely tan! With a time of 6:52:54 ACT 22 was complete!
My participation in the Edinburgh Marathon was for SANDS, one of my 5 chosen charities for a year and one that I was incredibly proud to represent. Please, if you would like to donate: 50p, £5 or even £50 - it all adds up, that would be amazing!
THANK YOU!!

Act 29: London to Brighton 55 Miles - Cycle Challenge Sunday 21st June
WE SURE DID!!! Mike Land
I can not think of anything better than commemorating Fathers Day to every father out there in our worlds and in our spirits than tackling a 55 Miles Bike Ride from Clapham Common to Brighton Seafront on an incredible glorious day!
Where do I start? Up early, very early, changed, a bowl of bran and a banana and then collected and ready for the off. I would like to thank both Mike and Sue French for sharing the road crew duties and then finally into London, attaching us both with what we needed and making our ways to the start line and just like that, off we went!
I had know idea as to what was install and what awaited me and at least I can say, well i navigated the first hill pretty well. But with every decent, another ascent follows and finally - let me echo the exchange of words shared between Alec Guinness and Harrison Ford ‘that’s no hill, it’s a space station, it’s too big to be a space station’ well whatever it was, I got up it! What gave me a humorous chuckle though is that prior to this, I witness 3 people riding what was a three seated bike, well somewhere along the way, he lost his riders!
Eventually up this space station, a beautiful breeze as if someone turned on the fans and with only a few miles left and with a time of 5:59:56, I had crossed the finish line and was presented with a beautiful medal!
So what next, well someone said, you should have a dip in the ocean - I said, that’s next week and all will be revealed in due course on that one but ofcourse I’m at the seaside so it’s only right to have an ice cream before heading home!
I would like to take this opportunity in thanking Mike for looking out for me and getting me to this point aswell as the BHF for everything they do and giving me both this opportunity and platform for supporting Mike through such a rewarding charity.
So this was ACT 29 on my list and ACT 30 isn’t too far away so I encourage you all to visit my website/Grey box - 50 ACTS 50 CHEERS - It’ll show you what I’ve done, where I’m at, what’s next, I’m championing 5 charities for an entire year
GOSH, BATH CATS & DOGS HOME, REACH INCLUSIVE ARTS, SHELTER and SANDS - there is even 5 songs written by me as an accompaniment to these charities, please check them out!
Thank you for the kindness of your words, all your support and every charitable contribution you have made.
Mucho love, Robert XXXXX
Act 30: Wilkie50 Pier to Pier Swim - Bournemouth Saturday 27th June
Where do I start? Well as always, up early after as decent a night as possible in this heat, a nice breakfast and then challenge 1!
🥚🥐🥣🥚🥐🥣🥚🥐🥣🥚🥐🥣🥚🥐🥣
Normally, I’d be putting on running gear, well I didn’t want the faff down there so on with my gear including the wetsuit! Before long, car journey with my Mum and Dad and off we went! I had my energy drink in the car.
Finally parked up In the Pavilion carpark and off to find my bearings! Not long to go, Pink hat on, goggles, a few novelty exercises before entering the water!
🩳🩲🥽 🩳🩲🥽🩳🩲🥽🩳🩲🥽🩳🩲🥽🩳🩲🥽
Obviously this is a little bit different and I haven’t swam as much as I should - in fact this was my very first open water swim but hey, it’s only 1.4 miles! One minute I was on my front, then my back, then my front and then my back - you get the picture! On my back, I went around in a circle for 10 seconds, then into one of the wooden beach separations and finally another swimmer in a green hat but as I saw Bournemouth Pier disappear, I looked the other way and I could see Boscombe Pier and with a strong swim finish, I was there! Jelly legs getting out of the water, a lovely hug from one of the volunteers, presented with a beautiful medal and goody bag/finishers T-shirt before walking back to meet up with Mum and Dad.
🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️
A couple of pictures to mark a truly incredible occasion because I believe this is possibly the last time it will be hosted here so I have to saver a mention to all the volunteers, the lifeguards and emergency services as well as the British Heart Foundation.
Like I mentioned from the get go, it’s great to represent the 5 charities on my list but of course, if there is an opportunity to support a friend through their chosen charity or through the event itself, well that is what through this milestone year, I’m trying to achieve and so I’ll always mention everything I do and who for as of course cherish every ounce of support I receive.
Act 31: World Cup Winners 66 Half Marathon, Milton Keynes - Saturday 4th July
They think it’s all over….it is now! Well this one is anyway and if you are going to do it, you have to wear the right attire!
⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽⚽ ⚽
It’s been 60 years since that magical day at Wembley 4-2 and at present our only success - Alf’s team and to date an only hat-trick in a final which won the game so what better way to commemorate this success, by participating in a half marathon with a beautiful medal as the token of the day featuring the Jules Rimet. On this occasion, my number was 103 and to make the day that more iconic, 66 runners participated!
So the day started, incredibly early, the road crew included Mum and Dad (well what better way to commemorate it than by taking heritage from the 60’s) and even though my timing was all over the place as I didn’t exactly start when I should have and I may have added the extra miles to. The time i was given was 3:46:41 however that was providing I started at 8:30. I didn’t officially start running until at least 10 so my time featured on my Garmin was 2:20:43.
Hot in quite a few places then breezy and then my legs started to get heavy around mile 10 but all good and all done (the recent cycling and swimming has certainly given my legs a lift)
So other than to say ‘Come on England’ this was an incredible event to participate in and certainly a lot warmer than the last time I was here!
To conclude - like I always do, this is all another instalment of the incredible
50 ACTS OF GIVING BACK
Act 32: Battersea Park Half Marathon - Bath Cats & Dogs - Saturday 18th July
Here are the pictures of a fantastic day - yes it was warm, my legs were strong-ish and I drank a bathtub of water, my number on this occasion was 2667 and with a time of 2:51:22 although I did let my watch run on a bit and having burnt 1635 in calories - ACT 32 was completed!
This was all about Bath Cats & Dogs Home, part of the RSPCA and as Battersea has a prestigious history within its own trust, I couldn’t think of a better fitting tribute and connection than here - it’s also an absolutely stunning park and Run Through always organise these events with so much profession so thanks to them to.
As you can see Chewie was there to celebrate my day and even though he wasn't too impressed with the PB Bell, he seems to be very proud to be on the podium.
Act 33: YODATHON - Les Slinn Studio - Monday 20th July
Following on from participating in the Battersea Half Marathon, the 50 Acts has certainly taken me to different places and doing different things and this is where I can introduce you to something else, I involved myself in.
Yoga should be relaxing, right? Wrong! Especially when the challenge involves 108 Sun Salutations and what is one of those?
Well I could describe it but please YouTube one and have a go yourself!
Ofcourse, I had to tap into my quirkiness of ideas and ofcourse, what better way to utilise a Star Wars character and hey presto YODATHON was born!
I would like to thank Tracy for coming up with the initial idea and for Jennifer St participating in the shared challenge and
with that as one Act comes to a close, it’s onto the next one and as always, all will be revealed in due course so watch this space!
Act 34: Eton Dorney Lake, Windsor - Half Marathon - Sunday 26th July
ACT 34 - DORNEY LAKE HALF MARATHON
DORNEY LAKE, WINDSOR, BERKSHIRE
Up early - 6am, as always a very light breakfast, then changed, load up the car with the road crew onboard - aka Mum and Dad and my sister and off we go, heading on our way down the M4. Never knew how the day was going to pan out weather wise but it was an absolutely gorgeous day and what a fantastic location!
It’s not every day, you get to experience participating at a venue where Olympic champions were made but hopefully I dressed appropriately for an incredible day and on this occasion my number was 2976.
It was all going on there today - 5Ks, 10Ks, Half Marathon participants (where you’ll find me) and lastly Triathlon athletes. So sooner we arrived, sooner off I went for the 13.1 miles infront of me - obviously your running against the current/wind - never easy but bit by bit, I got around - I even for a brief period ran alongside a lovely lady called Sarah - she had my rhythm - too bad, she was only doing the 10K! I also took a few piccies on my way around, this place is beautiful!
Eventually my last lap came and I was on my way past the 13 miles mark, finishing really strong and with a time of 2:57:45 having burnt 1587 calories, ACT 34 was complete!
I would like to take this opportunity in thanking dad for driving, mum for organising us all, my sister for giving me a huge shout out, everyone on the course with their kind words to get me around and ofcourse, the event organisers!
Act 35: ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW - Half Marathon
Shrewsbury Sports Village Shropshire - Sunday 2nd August
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Look how close I am to £2000!
I have just 1 month left to do hit my target.
Still feeling the love! ♥️ Thank you xx
Act 36: Newbury Racecourse Half Marathon, Newbury - Sunday 9th August 2026
Act 37: From Aisle to Isle Cycle Ride - Isle of Wight - Thursday 13th August 🚴 🚴 🚴 🚴
ACT 37 - FROM AISLE TO ISLE - ISLE OF WIGHT BIKE RIDE
RETURN FROM THE FERRY TO THE NEEDLES
WOW! What an incredible day!!!
Up as always early to be collected by Mike Land, Sue French and Leela and off we go on an adventure down to Southampton with an early than expected ferry crossing, coffees and sweet treat bites on board and an incredible gorgeous day!
All of a sudden with mainland UK behind us, we were in the Isle of Wight, a car journey to a local supermarket to change and get what we needed for today’s adventure then a drive to where we would start and with a GPS giving us its own little game show, off we went following what is one of the most remarkably beautiful coastlines I have ever seen.
Every so often, to be presented with a steady hill incline and then a lovely decline with a gorgeous breeze bit by bit, we were knocking off the miles but it felt effortless when you are presented with such beauty around you and the greatest present of all is that the roads were as smooth as butter so absolutely perfect to cycle on.
With a few brief stops on the way including meeting our friend Thomas Rex and stopping for cold drinks meeting fellow cyclists on our way, we were not too far from our planned destination. A couple of inclined hills enroute including the one that would take us to the Needles and we were there and the views were absolutely incredible as hopefully these pictures give you an idea.
Mike will upload many more from this gorgeous day to follow.
We had planned to do a round robin kind of trip but with the weather, the fact that we stopped to enjoy what this beautiful island was all about and to take it all in whilst sharing an absolutely gorgeous experience, we may saviour more of this on another occasion.
After completing a 30 mile bike ride and making our way to Yarmouth to be collected by Sue and Leela, bikes loaded, cycle attire packed and we were on our way back to the ferry. Something quickish to eat and drink and off we went back to the mainland.
What a truly incredible experience and definitely one that will stay with me forever!
I would like to saviour a few warm heart felt mentions to both Mike, Sue and Leela.

50 ACTS OF GIVING BACK
SUCH AN AMAZING DAY!
Act 38: Frome Half Marathon, Frome - Sunday 16th August
ACT 38 - FROME HALF MARATHON OLD SHOWFIELD, BARKLEY ROAD, FROME
Up early, breakfast, changed, load the car up - family onboard and off we went on an adventure to Frome - Today felt cooler and guess what, we even had a little bit of rain on the journey down. Parked up and then off I went to find the starting area whilst the family stayed around what would be part of the route.
Mingled with other runners, then the novelty warm up although I was still in the land of my body hasn’t woken up yet. Set me watch and walked to the start and off I went to navigate the 13.1 miles.
What I really liked about this one is that the first 5 miles was a lovely comfortable run and even my first hill didn’t feel hard so getting to 10 miles - I was really happy to get there in 2hrs then ofcourse, 3 miles which included the hills and with one to go and a lovely jog around the corner and with a time of 2:45:46, ACT 38 was complete!
Then what, well my medal, a few goodies and for a while now, I thought, how about a lovely massage and the ladies were fab! A few pictures to follow, then meet up with the family before the drive home.
So with the theme of Queen, if I could only reach you, if I could make you smile, if I could only reach you, it would really be a…….
Break-Frome!!!!!
Act 39: London Summer Walk 25K - Saturday 22nd August
ACT 39 - LONDON SUMMER WALK 25K
MND WALK- WITH MY COUSIN KELLY
ROYAL WOOLWICH ARTILLERY BARRACKS
SATURDAY 22ND AUGUST 2026
WOW - What a fantastic hosted event and we were both looked so well after! So what was this one all about?
So I was up pretty early 3am to be precise to get on my bus at 4:40 am and then off to London (again) I needed a coffee and some sugar so I stopped by at Starbucks.
Technically I was packing for two days but unfortunately my follow on act will have to have a re-jiggle!
Still I was in London - make my way to where the event was taking place, collect my number which on this occasion was 2473 and I would soon be joined with my cousin Kelly and we would be participating in a 25K Summer Walk - I had an egg roll and coffee before we met and then the novelty warm up, a few piccies before the off!
It was an absolute glorious day and hopefully the pictures show this as we chatted the way talking about work, our lives and interests and of course family of which we are both part of a big family - Kelly’s father Bill is my mum’s brother and it was an honour in sharing this day with her in his memory and in support of the MND
What was amazing about this event is that we were never too far from the Thames so we definitely saw plenty of water and with walks like this, you definitely get to see many hidden areas that you wouldn’t by travelling by car and with that and walking in mind, we had just completed 15K and was at our rest stop - drinks and sweets and cakes and rest our feet for a bit before once again, taking to the streets - just 10K to go!
With every kilometre ticked off, we were getting closer only to be presented with some steps going up and some path inclines - lovely! Then we saw the 24K sign and so we were on our way back to the finish. As we crossed that line - WE DID IT!
Then to be presented with an absolutely gorgeous medal and finishers shirt before a few pictures to celebrate our achievement and of course, food time - a nice veggie burger and chips with some pudding and a nice cold beer!
It was soon to make our way out of the park to get our tube stops before we parted ways and me at that point not knowing where I was going but that’s another story!
This day however was an incredible day and it was an honour in sharing this walk on this glorious day with my cousin Kelly - Thank you so much to you and you were absolutely awesome! Fantastic job!
