10th - 12th October 2025
UK Sleddogs are hosting the 4 X Paw Challenge, a four-stage race over three days! The event will take place at Santon Downham, Thetford Forest, Norfolk from 10th - 12th October 2025.
This 4 stage, day & night, team up sled dog event includes Nordic, Freight and Open classes, with Canicross, Bike, Scooter & Rig classes. The best of three results count, and there is a special prize for those who complete all four stages!
Finding a team mate to buddy up with can be tricky. Well luckily for all of you, you don't need to worry about it. An online team generator will randomly select teams and this will be posted 2 weeks before the event.
Each competitor will receive points according to their finishing position within their class. The 2 competitors who have been matched will then have their points added together for their combined placing.
Juniors CAN choose their team, however if you don't have team mate we can pair you up.
(Every competitor will receive their own times, as we all know that's what people are interested in )
The emphasis on this race is FUN! This will be a combination of a few past race formats all rolled into one!
Very few, if any will have competed in an event like this! It's going to be the place to be!

The pool of dogs is for each individual person, only you can run dogs in your pool and dogs can only be in one pool. If you enter more than one class (maximum of 2) you will need 2 pools and dogs cannot be swapped between them.
Any or all dogs in your pool(s) are eligible to run all 4 stages if you wish. You must have at least the class minimum amount of dogs for each stage (for instance you cannot run 3 dogs in DR4 - 6) you also cannot exceed the class maximum amount of dogs on any of the stages.
Although this is a fun event we take dog welfare very seriously, due to this your pool of dogs must be entered onto a chip list (we will email forms out to all participants after entries have closed) as microchips will be checked on the finish line for each stage.
All dogs must be over 18 month on the first day of the event.
Event will use IFSS race rules in with the following additional local rules
Local Dog Welfare Rules
Brachycephalic breeds are not permitted
All competing dogs must be 18 months or older on first day of event
No off-lead dog at all anywhere on site
Dogs must not be left unattended on the stake out/in dog gardens. Dogs must be securely put away if being left unattended. It is acceptable to have someone else watching your dogs providing they are in close proximity and being attentive and they are aware that they are responsible for your dogs whilst you are away from them.
Please do not soak/wet/sponge down/drench your dog in or adjacent to the start/finish chutes
All dogs finishing a race must be promptly returned to stake out/vehicle and their cool down/race recovery commenced. Please do not hang around waiting for another competitor to finish/waiting for race time etc.
No muzzles of restrictive type of headcollars are to be used in start chute/finish area or whilst racing
All dogs should be fit and healthy. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that any dog in their pool of dogs has the capabilities to compete, taking into consideration how many stages the dog will be doing, trail length and weather conditions at the time of the race.
The race organisers will ensure that the trail distance for each stage is suitable by taking into consideration the environmental situation (weather, topography, trail availability etc) and the time of year the race is taking place in (for example - early in the season)
Dog Welfare and competitor safety are the ultimate priorities of this event
Local Trail Rules
It is all competitors’ responsibility to ensure the safety of each other and all dogs when passing, whether they are being overtaking or are doing the overtaking. Clear communication with plenty of time for either team to react and be prepared to give space/slow down.
Trail inspections will take place Friday afternoon or Saturday morning and will close 1 hour prior to racing commencing. Those inspecting the trail on foot must start this minimum 45 minutes prior to inspection closing so as not to interfere with racing. Those inspecting via bike/scooter etc must start minimum 30 mins prior to inspection closing. Competition dogs can be walked around the course. No running of dogs, whether competing or not, on bikes/scooters/rigs etc for trail inspection.
There will not be a rec class due to time constraints
It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that they get to the start line in time for their start. A snub line will be provided at the start line.
Local Equipment Rules
DR6-8 must have all wheel breaking and it is recommended that a 4-wheel rig is used
DR4-6 must have all wheel breaking
It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that all their equipment is fit for purpose. Race Organisers will prevent a team for starting if their equipment is deemed to be unsafe
Bike and/or Scooter lines must be attached to the bike/scooter (and not the competitor) with an antenna of some description to hold the line up off the front wheel. This antenna must also be securely fixed to the bike/scooter.
For the night stage, ALL competitors must have a minimum of two lights. No lead acid batteries and any glass lenses must be taped to prevent shattering.
Local Penalties
If the competitor presents at the finish (having completed a stage) with a dog on their team that is not listed on the competitors chip list, then the time and competitors result for that stage will be deleted and no points allocated
If a competitor allows a dog to run the same heat twice, then that competitor will be disqualified. If a competitor allows their dog to run the same heat twice, but with another competitor, then that competitor will also be disqualified
Finish area penalties – Prolonged lingering with dogs when just finished a stage will result in: -The Yellow Card of Shame plus First offense = warning. Second offence = warning. Any further offences will result in a 1-point deduction for each offence
Any penalties can only be given by race officials (the exemption being The Yellow Card of Shame - this can also be used by the race marshal in the finish area)
Late starts – if a competitor misses their start, they will be given a new start time. This may mean that the competitor will have to wait until the end of the class they are competing in. First offense = warning and The Yellow Card of Shame. Any further offence = 1 minute penalty
Please note – circumstances will be considered before the penalty is applied.
Included in the entry is a hog roast lunch (vegan and vegetarian options also available) so that you have one less thing to worry about on double race day! Extra meals will be available for you to purchase if you wish.
