Following the previous very successful meetings:

the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at La Trobe University will host the Fourth Annual Victorian Research Students' meeting in Probability and Statistics.

This event provides doctoral and masters by research students from Victorian universities with an opportunity to present their research to their peers as well as hearing from other students in an environment which facilitates collaboration.

Housekeeping

  • Photographs will be taken during the event for promotional purposes and they may be reproduced electronically and physically. If you are uncomfortable with that please let us know prior to the start.

  • The conference venue is accessible via ramps as well as having a hearing aid loop.

  • The majority of the programme will run between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you are a presenter with caring responsibilities, please contact us. We will try our best to to schedule your talk accordingly.

  • The venue is equipped with whiteboards and projectors, allowing for both whiteboard and projected presentations.

  • If you are presenting, please see the organisers in the break before the session in which you present to prepare your presentation material.

In case of switching to an online version of this conference,

  • Check whether your microphone is unmuted and that your camera is on to ensure that all attendees can hear you and see you when you speak.

  • Notifications from messaging applications, ringtones, and applications running on your desktop can be distracting, which can make the other participants feel disrespected and undervalued and mitigating these distractions helps keep the meeting focused and free from interruption.

Code of Conduct

  • Be considerate and respectful to all conference attendees.

  • Be considerate and respectful when asking questions from panelists.

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants and alert conference staff if you notice a dangerous situation, see someone in distress, or have any concerns.

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior, materials, and speech.

  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory behavior is strictly unacceptable.
