using Gaia DR
We will take high-resolution (R=20,000) spectra of over 4 million FGKM-type stars with a simple and even selection based on Gaia, sampling a volume of > 5 kpc and all evolutionary stages, 10 < G < 16, MG cut to avoid K dwarfs (S41) or to avoid giants (S4:2).
The survey is organised in 11 sub-surveys:
Large Disc and Bulge (global, +/- 5 kpc)
Z (chemistry)-complete disc (local, +/- 2 kpc)
Deep Bulge + Roman field (innermost bulge + bar)
Cepheids / present-day disc gradients
eROSITA: targets with weak X-ray data / activity-rotation-age
Asteroseismology large (TESS, K2) / RGB, oscillations, masses
Open clusters / atomic diffusion, stellar evolution
Exoplanets / all known hosts in the southern sky
Low-metallicity / very metal-poor disc/bulge
PLATO exoplanet hosts
