The disparities in healthcare access for Indigenous communities is a pressing issue, in Canada especially, which demands immediate attention and action. Basically, we're trying to shine a light on how unfair it is that some people can’t even see a doctor when they need one. This isn’t just an issue – it’s a crisis.
This is why our group is dedicated to raising awareness about these inequalities. Through our non-profit campaign which focuses on educating the public on the challenges that face the Indigenous peoples regarding accessing quality healthcare, we hope to achieve this. We provide a platform for dialogue, learning, and action, and strive to become a catalyst for change.
Our belief is that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves access to comprehensive and equitable healthcare services. However, Indigenous communities in Canada face numerous obstacles which hinder their ability to receive the care they need.
We all know how important access to healthcare is. Now imagine living hundreds of miles from the nearest clinic. How would you feel if your family had to drive hours just to get basic medical care? Unfortunately, that’s the reality for many remote populations.
If you’re still reading, thanks for sticking with us. We know this is heavy stuff, but it’s important.
We started this project because we believe no one should be denied healthcare just because of where they live. The goal of our campaign is to highlight these issues and encourage advocacy for systemic change.
Ultimately, our mission is to spark meaningful conversations by creating a space for education, dialogue, and engagement. We aspire to empower individuals to act and advocate for change, because we believe that by raising awareness of these pressing issues, we can inspire our followers to become allies in the fight for equitable healthcare access.
To achieve our goal, we have developed together a campaign that uses modern technology such as social media to engage with our audience. The primary platform we will use is Instagram, where we will share informative content multiple times a week. We focus on biweekly themes that each explore facets of healthcare access for Indigenous communities.
In our mission, will also need the help of Instagram Reels to create dynamic and engaging video content. These are short videos that will delve into the biweekly topics. They will showcase educational materials. By utilizing diverse media formats, we aim to touch different learning styles and preferences, in the goal of making our campaign accessible to a wider audience.
In addition to our social media presence, we provide in-depth information through our weekly blog posts. Each blog post will explore the biweekly topic in detail. Our blogs will serve as a valuable resource, deepening the understanding of the challenges Indigenous communities face and the systemic changes required to address them.
We recognize the importance of gauging our audience’s understanding of the issues at hand. To facilitate this, we will create weekly surveys using Google Forms. They will be used to evaluate the comprehension of the discussed topics and to gather feedback on our campaign. In other words, this structure will allow us to track our audience's knowledge growth. We will therefore be able to identify areas in need of improvement and adapt our content to better meet their needs.
Finally, we aim to bridge the gap between awareness and action. By mobilizing our community to stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples, we demand systemic changes that will ensure equitable healthcare for all.
Together we will work towards a future where, regardless of their background, all Canadians, have access to the healthcare services they deserve.
To make a difference, join us in this vital mission!
