Meet the Teacher
About Me:
My name is Ms. Shotkoski, but I am better known as "Ms. Shot." I grew up in Mahomet and graduated from here many moons ago. Out of high school, I received a degree in Graphic Design, because art is a deep passion of mine. Shortly after finishing that degree, I moved to Colorado Springs, CO.
As time went on, I realized I was still searching for what I really wanted in a profession. I had ample time to think about it, as I stayed home for a chunk of time when my two daughters were born. I started back to school when they were little and worked toward my teaching degree, which is something I have always wanted to do. I took the long road to finishing it between then and now, because life took me from Colorado to Germany and then back to my hometown in Illinois. Luckily, I was able to gain so much teaching experience in public, military, and charter schools at the various homes I made.
This is my fourth year with the Lincoln Trail 4th grade team. I have done both short-term and long-term subbing here in the district, as well as completed my student teaching in this very hallway!
I look forward to getting to know everyone in the 4G family as we start this new adventure into learning. See you all soon!
My Favorite Things:
My two daughters. My oldest is going into High School as a freshman this year and my youngest will start 8th grade. I am still trying to process how this could be happening!
Traveling. The above photo was taken in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. I love traveling whether it be by plane or driving across this great country, which I did a lot of this summer.
I am a lover of all animals fluffy and friendly.
Tacos. I'd have them morning, noon, or night, from almost anywhere... the smaller and less obvious the place, typically the better!
Spicy and salty snacks. I'm more of a chip-lover than a sweets person.
Gummie Bears. Okay, so SOME sweets are pretty great... I AM pleased to say the sugar-free bears are pretty tasty still.
Starbucks, Yo-yo's, Whisk, all the coffee places!
Chicago Cubbies
Pretty pens, markers, colored pencils. That's the artist in me.
Jeopardy, trivia and the like.
Organization, rule-following and learning! I can't help it. These things are my idea of fun! :)
