48 Fables has never shied away from change. After several line-up changes, in 2022, the band solidified into a power trio with local powerhouse Kevin Brewer playing drums and sharing lead vocals with Pettit who was now emerging as an accomplished songwriter. During a trip to Atlanta in 2021, Pettit hooked up with friend and former bandmate, Jonny Daly. Over lunch Daly invited Pettit to bring his band to Georgia to break in his newly restored studio, Freedom of Sound. 022 saw the release of the debut album, Here ya go, recorded fast and loose over the course of three days to capture the live, raw, feel of this rocking americana band.
2023 saw the return of original drummer Matt Bridges and Pettit took over the lead vocals. The band began working on new songs and headed back to Freedom of Sound in January of 2024 to record a new album. The final touches were completed in August and the new album, Lean into it, will be released on August 30. Daly took a much more direct role in producing this album. Daly also jumped in to play guitar on a few tracks, most notably the smoking, countrified, lead on East of Ajo. Daly pushed the band to lean harder into overdriven Marshall amps as well as into the melodic Celtic/Appalachian beats that signify Pettit’s Southern fables. Another highlight of this new album is Galway Girl, which includes a beautiful flute track by Grammy award winning flutist Sarah Brady.
