BRAID invites researchers and practitioners from AI, political science, law, journalism, fact-checking, and public policy to contribute to a shared research agenda for trustworthy information ecosystems. We welcome technical methods, empirical findings, conceptual frameworks, and practical challenges, especially work that identifies opportunities for collaboration across disciplines.
Shared frameworks for evidence, reliability, source authority, public trust, freedom of expression, and institutional responsibility. Where do computational, social science, and legal objectives align, and where do they imply competing requirements?
Evaluation methods that connect technical accuracy and evidence fidelity to understanding, trust, participation, and democratic deliberation. What evidence would establish that an AI system improves an information environment?
Source credibility assessment, provenance tracking, misinformation filtering, and training-data curation. How can these choices improve factual reliability without introducing bias or unequal coverage?
Deepfake detection, watermarking, provenance, and proportionate interventions in synthetic content. Contributions may examine political expression, impersonation and deception, legal safeguards, and the responsibilities of developers, platforms, public institutions, and users.
Related work in automated and agentic fact-checking, NLP, information retrieval, human–AI interaction, and AI as a research method in political science is also welcome.
We welcome the following contribution types:
