400 China Basin is a part of the City’s Limited Equity Program, which provides middle-class individuals and families with long-term, affordable home ownership through sponsorship from the City’s Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure.
In collaboration with Baines Nibbi construction and Mithun and Y. A. Studio architects, seasoned affordable housing developers Michael Simmons, Charmaine Curtis, and Young Community Developers got together to construct this project.
Overseeing all BMR units in the City, the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development is in charge of this project. It is a part of a larger plan to construct 1,100 affordable housing units in Mission Bay, including two inexpensive sites set aside for first-time homebuyers.
A highly skilled group of sales representatives, buyer's advocates, and housing counselors with significant BMR expertise will assist purchasers throughout the purchasing process.
Young Community Developers is working with seasoned developers Michael Simmons Property Development and Charmaine Curtis of Curtis Development to develop the project. With over 25 years of experience, each company has built both market-rate and affordable homes in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
Award-winning architects Y.A. Studio and Mithun are working together on the design. Both have a great deal of experience creating inexpensive homes in Mission Bay and the City as a whole. Mithun's offices design buildings all across the west coast because they believe that design has a fundamental role in bringing people together and to a place. Y.A. Studio is an architecture firm located in San Francisco that creates restaurants, affordable housing, and upscale single-family residences.
