ZooMS
Taxonomic identification is the first step in historical ecology research using often-fragmented archaeological remains of bones and teeth. The zooarchaeology by mass spectrometry (ZooMS) method can identify very small samples based on peptide mass fingerprinting after treating collagen with the enzyme trypsin. The project has previously collaborated with Cambridge University to conduct this work, and now carries out ZooMS in-house at NTNU in Trondheim.
