Intentional Riding Challenge

Looking for a supportive community that helps you stay accountable for your riding goals? Join our Facebook Group, the Intentional Riding Challenge. The challenge is to complete 12 weeks with 15 rides spanning 20 hours on your 1 project horse . You post after each "session" with photos and reflection. We will help keep track of your progress and even have recognition for those who complete!

To join:

  1. Request to join and answer the questions

  2. Introduce yourself by taking conformation photos of your horse, state your goals for your horse, and state your goals for yourself.

  3. Support your other riders by liking, commenting, and cheering on your peers!

Participating in your Area Horse Show during the spring is an exciting opportunity. Please contact your county's specific agent to find out how you can qualify to show, as each county may differ.

You will be deemed eligible to attend the State Horse Show with your results from the Area Horse Show.

4-H Horsemanship School is open to 4H members who are between the ages of 11-18 years old as of September 1, 2020. Mounted: suppling exercises, developing core strength, aids, rail work, posting, 2 point, dressage, trail obstacles, patterns, cavalletti, and trail riding. Additional sessions are planned for lecture/demonstration as well as recreation.

Registration fee for the 2019 Horsemanship Schools is $525.00 for youth and $325.00 for adult chaperones

Record Books

Each member with a 4-H project horse should complete and turn in a Horse Record Book at the end of the year. This book keeps track of your time, investments, and goals for that 4-H program year. Take time to fill these out correctly and thoroughly putting extra attention in your project story.

Horse Clinics

Your county program or club may offer local clinics. Clinics are important for practicing your skills off property in preparation for shows as well as overall growth in your horsemanship. If you do not have a horse or cannot attend as a rider, consider going to just watch instead!

Let us know if you are aware of any upcoming clinics that may benefit our group!

Virtual and In-Person Shows & Clinics

During COVID-19 many shows and clinics moved from an in-person to a virtual event. Wonderful clinicians and judges can provide you feedback as you ride safely at home or at your barn. Some Counties are also offering open clinics for 4-H members.

If we become aware of riding opportunities we will update our members!
