RECORD BOOKS
Reminder: Record Books Must Be Up-to-Date Before Fair
As we get ready for the Boulder County Fair, it’s important that all 4-H members showing animals have their record books up-to-date. This is a required step to participate in the fair.
Here’s what you need to know:
Your club leader will check your animal record book to make sure it’s current and complete before the fair.
You must use the green 4-H clasp folder for your record book. (Or similar type folder.) Please do not use 3-ring binders.
If your record book is not up-to-date and approved, you will not be allowed to show your animal at the fair.
Helpful Tools:
Record Book Score Sheets
These are official judging tools provided by Colorado 4-H. They’ll be used to evaluate record books for livestock, horse, dog, and general projects.
Up-to-Date Animal Record Book Checklist
This checklist is a great way to double-check your record book before fair. It’s meant to help members, parents, and leaders make sure everything is ready. Note: This checklist is just a guide and not the same as the score sheets used for judging.
If you have any questions, reach out to your club leader or the 4-H office—we’re here to help!

Important Parking Info for 4-H Families!
We are hoping to make parking a bit easier this year! We ask that our 4-H families follow these guidelines:
The areas behind the barns will be a designated 4-H lot. We will have parking passes available for pickup at the Extension Office as soon as possible. Call the office before you head over to pick them up. These parking passes are required to get you in the lot. Please display parking placards in a visible area of the car.
Carpooling! Please try to avoid having multiple cars per family at the fair whenever possible. We are limited in number of spots, and once our parking fills up you will have to park in the public lots regardless of the placard.
Trailer parking - If you need to leave your trailer at the fairgrounds during fair, you MUST drop it in the designated Trailer Lot behind the Humane Society. Any trailer left in the parking lot will be ticketed.
