    Gujarati is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by about 55 million people in the Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, and also in Bangladesh, Fiji, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Oman, Pakistan, Réunion, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Gujarati is written with a script called Gujarati script, which is a variant of the Devanagari script. Gujarati script has 46 basic letters, of which 34 are consonants and 12 are vowels. Gujarati script also has various signs and symbols for representing numbers, punctuation marks, conjuncts and modifiers.
