Baton Rouge
The closest airport is BTR which is approximately 15 minutes from the conference venue and suggested hotels. When leaving you can show up shortly before boarding and have little risk of missing your flight. We suggest DC-based folks take the direct American Airlines flight.
Alternatively, one can fly in and out of New Orleans (MSY). It is about an hour drive from the conference venue and suggested hotels. When leaving, you will need to arrive at the airport the typical ~1-2 hours ahead of your flight. However, this may be preferable if it saves you an extra flight. Note, if you take this route, make sure you utilize Google maps (or similar) while in transit. I-10 covers two long, elevated bridges over the Mississippi delta, which can lead to extreme travel delays in the case of an accident.
Venue
The venue is The Lod Cook Conference Center (3838 West Lakeshore Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808) which has parking is available on site.
Hotel Accomodation
The Lod Cook Hotel is next to the conference venue and a number of rooms have been reserved for this conference. The cutoff date for booking is August 18. A Sonesta is relatively nearby. Transport to and from the venue can be done via bus. You can also walk, but you may not enjoy it. You can book the group rate here, or through their website with the code 0922LSUPHY
