STEM Building Challenge

Grade Level Suggestions: All Elementary
*Upper Elementary allows for more depth

STANDARDS: Science and Engineering Practices

Can you build a house that can withstand the wolf's sneeze?

Teachers, provide your students with any materials you have in your classroom. These could include things like paper, paper towel roles, straws, Popsicle sticks, index cards, etc. or things around your room like books, pencils, bins, notebooks, etc.

Students will use the engineering design process to create and build a house. Use the planning and recording page below.

This can be used digitally or printed. When you click on the button, it will prompt you to make a copy. Click "Make a Copy".

Test your students' houses by introducing wind! Again, use what you have: bring a hair dryer from home, use a stand alone fan, take the structures outside on a windy day,  or fan the structure with a stack of papers!
