Day 1

Upington to Augrabies Falls via Riemvasmaak and then onto Onseepkans – Camping at Red Rock River Camp

Join us on an unforgettable adventure and experience three unique ecosystems in the Northern Cape: Kalahari, Namaqualand, Richtersveld

Our journey begins in Upington at 8 am, where we meet before departing in your self-drive 4x4 vehicle. We head southwest towards Keimoes and Kakamas before reaching Riemvasmaak hot springs, where we  explore the area, driving through rocky terrain in 4x4 mode.

After leaving Riemvasmaak, we descend the rocky mountain slopes to witness the majestic Augrabies Waterfall at Augrabies National Park.

Our journey will continue as we make our way to the Namaqua 4x4 trail from Pella, passing through Vioolsdrif to reach the Richtersveld and our final destination on day 7, Nigramoep Slow Living Guest Farm outside Springbok.

At the end of each day, we check into our accommodations, starting with the Red Rock River Camp at Onseepkans. Here, we enjoy a delightful dinner on the banks of the Orange River catered by our hosts.

Please specify before our departure.

Day 2

Onseepkans to Hartbeesmond via Pofadder and Pella - Wild Camping - No ablutions

Provide Own Meals

After a delightful breakfast at Red Rock River Camp, our spirits soar as we continue on our journey south along a dusty track bound for Pofadder. It's not just a pit stop; it's our chance to load up on ice, stock our pantry with delectable treats, and fill our tanks with fuel. The anticipation bubble within us because we know that after Pofadder, it's a five-day stretch before encountering civilization again.

Pella awaits us next, and it is crucial to ensure we have all our supplies, marking the last opportunity to restock before our wild adventure truly kicks off. The thrill of self-sufficiency adds an extra layer of excitement to the journey. Our destination? The Orange River, where our first campsite at Hartbeesmond will unfold. Picture this – under the expansive African Stars, we dine and embrace the freedom of sleeping wild. No dedicated campsite, just the one we fashioned for the night. Oh, and a friendly reminder: don't forget your spade and something to light the toilet paper with when nature calls. As the sun set, we gather around a communal fire, sharing tales of the drive to Hartbeesmond.  The night is filled with laughter, stories, and the joy of a journey well embarked upon.

Day 3

Hartbeesmond to Die Groot Melkhoutboom Wild Camping – No Ablutions

Provide Own Meals

Covering a distance of approximately 300km, the trail takes us 4 days. This trail is designed for off-road drivers and requires a 4x4 vehicle with low range and high clearance and an experienced guide. The trail is designed to be an eco-friendly adventure, with a strong emphasis on responsible off-roading and conservation. Participants are required to stick to the designated tracks, avoid disturbing the local flora and fauna, and leave no trace of your presence.

Overall, the Namaqua 4x4 Eco Trail is an unforgettable adventure, offering an exciting and challenging off-road experience, combined with breathtaking scenery and a chance to connect with nature in a unique and eco-friendly way.

We set up camp at the “Groot Melkhoutboom”, situated right on the banks of the Orange river. It's worth noting that there are no ablutions available, so we must be prepared for a more rustic experience. However, this doesn't stop us from enjoying a lovely dinner by an open fire, where we get to hear about everyone's unique take on the day's events.

Day 4

Die Groot Melkhoutboom to Ramansdrif  Wild Camping

No Ablutions

Provide Own Meals

We continue our journey and follow the trail further west and setup camp at Rhamansdrif for the night.

The Namaqua 4x4 Eco Trail is a thrilling journey that takes us through rugged terrain and breathtaking landscapes. However, before embarking on this adventure, it is crucial to ensure that your 4x4 vehicle is in top-notch condition with all-terrain tyres, recovery gear, and a full tank of fuel. Additionally, it is highly recommended to have a basic understanding of off-road driving techniques and to follow your capsble guide';s instructions.

Day 5

Ramansdrif to Khamgab

Wild Camping – No Ablutions

Provide Own Meals

The route to Khamgab leads us alongside the arid Khamgab Riverbed. This segment of the trip can be somewhat challenging, featuring a few large rocks to navigate, which might be intimidating for those pulling camper trailers. Even though this tour is accommodating to trailers, it's a good idea to verify that your trailer has sufficient ground clearance.

On our final night on the Eco Trail, we set up a wild-campsite by the banks of the Orange River at Khamgab, allowing us to savor the tranquility of the star-studded night sky.

Day 6

Kamgab to Vioolsdrift - Camping With Ablutions & Electrical PP

Provide Own Meals

We continue our journey to the renowned Oewerbos River Camp, passing through the little settlement of Vioolsdrif en route. There is not much in Vioolsdrif other than the border crossing to Namibia. No shops or Fuel is available here unless you cross the border. We bid farewell to the Namaqua section of the 4x4 echo trail and arrive at the Oewerbos River Camp in the afternoon, where our friendly hosts welcome us to their bar area, which boasts a breathtaking view of the Orange River. The Oewerbos is famous for their Delicious Mouth Water Wood Fired Pizzas!

The Oewerbos River Camp offers a plethora of activities for tourists, including river rafting, canoe trips, and fishing, to name a few.

Day 7

Oewerbos River Camp to Nigramoep Slow Living Guest Farm - Camping with Ablutions & Electrical PP

After our breakfast at the Oewerbos bar, we set out on an exciting, slow driving adventure towards the Nigramoep Slow Living Guest Farm, nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Namaqualand Ranges. With a bit of luck, the rugged terrain along this stunning route will be adorned with a vibrant display of wildflowers, creating a truly picturesque setting. Our journey to Nigramoep takes us off the beaten path, winding through the Nababiep National Park in the Richtersveld,

Upon arriving at Nigramoep, we are greeted with cold beers at their Honesty bar, and our gracious hosts, Marius and Johanna, pull out all the stops to ensure our stay is an unforgettable one.

Day 8

After Breakfast we head off to Springbok where we say our farewells until we meet again on our next adventure.
