What is "my data"? Is it confidential?
What is "my data"? Is it confidential?
Your data will consist of 15 video files, 1 audio file and 10 depth-map videos* for each scene (lasting 10-120 seconds).
We will not include names, dates, or any other data. You can withdraw up to 1 week after filming.
*A depth-map video is a video that displays the distance of objects from the camera
What will happen to my data?
The data set will be made Open Access meaning it will be free for anyone to use online.
Open access code & data is a standard in Computer Science. We are aware of the risks involved with publishing 3-D human data sets online and provide the following measures to ensure fairness and safety for every participant involved in the data collection.
💠
1. You are free to withdraw up to one week after filming (your data will be destroyed)
2. After one week of filming we will remove all personal information from our records (name, email, conversation history)
3. We will not accept any skin-tight or revealing clothing
4. Masks, headwear and full-body costumes can be requested
How will you process my data?
Condense Reality will capture the video and audio files and temporarily store it
The data will be handed to the University of Bristol (responsible for processing, storing and distribution)
The original video and audio files will be cut to 10-120 seconds (no other modifications will be made)
You data will be assigned a title (e.g. "Juggling Banana")
You data will be published online for anyone to freely use
What are the risks of participating?
Remember, this data set is intended for live 3-D broadcasting!
Therefore, the primary concern is the mis-use of video, 3-D and audio data. Data may also be used for training in generative AI models (e.g. StableDiffusion and Dall-E). As this is an Open Access data set we can not do anything to limit users.

Open Access means everyone is free to use and modify our data set.

💠
We chose Open Access so that companies (like our collaborators Condense Reality) and researchers (like us) can benefit from a free-to-use, highly diverse and relevant data set.
💠
This will encourage research and development as the creative world moves towards 3-D Cinematography.
Does this project have "Ethics Approval" or similar?
Yes we have! We received approval from the Faculty of Engineering Research Ethics Committee at the University of Bristol.
This means we need you to read & sign the consent form (below). A physical copy will be available for you to sign before on film day.
We also have a participant information sheet for any additional information we may have missed (below)
