The EMS Summer School 2021 will be held at Hotel Convento de São Paulo in the Ossa’s mountains in the region of Alentejo (Portugal) near the Spanish border. It will take place from May 23-28, 2021.

Convento de São Paulo was built in 1182 by hermits desirous of prayer and well-being, at the half-slope of Serra d'Ossa (Ossa’s Mountains) between Estremoz and Redondo, right in the heart of the region of Alentejo.

The convent was adapted to a comfortable and refined 4* hotel, offering a fantastic view over the flat Alentejo landscape. With a precious collection of about 54 000 tiles, the Convent of São Paulo holds the largest private collection of old tiles (“azulejos”) in the country. The exquisite blue-cobalt tiles date from the 18th century .

The hotel has comfortable double rooms and suites which were refurbished based on the former rooms of the monks, the old nursery, and library of the convent.

All rooms are equipped with twin and double bed, private WC, and free internet access. The participants will be accommodated in shared rooms.
