About Us

Welcome to the 32nd Ipswich Scout Group. We have been providing Scouting since 1975 and are based in the Stoke Park area of Ipswich, Suffolk.

You can find us at the 32nd Ipswich Scout Group Headquarters, Stoke Park Drive, Ipswich, IP2 9TH. Our members are from the local and wider Ipswich area.

We are a friendly diverse group with nearly 70 members across all sections ranging from Beavers up to Young Leaders (ages 6-18), all supported by a dedicated team of leaders.

We provide Skills For Life as part of the Scout Association's vision between now and 2025 to provide young people with skills for life, supporting them in their personal development, and empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

The group was founded on the 30th of September in 1975 at St Peter's Church with a contingent of 12 Cubs, 12 Scouts, and five leaders.

The group immediately had success and in 1979 had grown in number so much that the church was too small to fit everyone in. To enable the group to continue to grow, a dedicated headquarters was fundraised for and built next door, being officially opened on the 7th of February, 1981 and is still in use today.

In 1982 the group started an Explorers Section (then Venture Scouts) which is now our current Young Leader Unit.

In 1986 we started our Beaver Colony to provide scouting for younger children and prepare them for the existing Cub Pack.

When We Meet

Our sections meet across three separate evenings each week, only during school term time, with the Scout Troop and the Young Leader Unit sharing their evening together.

Beaver Colony Monday 6:00pm - 7:15pm 6-8 years old

Cub Pack Tuesday 6:30pm - 8:00pm 8-11 years old

Scout Troop Wednesday 7:00pm - 9:00pm 11-14 years old

Young Leader Unit Wednesday 7:00pm - 9:00pm 14-18 years old

Squirrels is a relatively new section in Scouting, providing activities for children 4-6 years old before they are eligible to join Beavers. We currently do not have a Squirrel Drey and are actively trying to start one, but we are short of leaders to run it!
