In the roll and move phase of the game, the players progress through the board using a simple 6 sided die and landing on specific tiles can generate various effects, from drawing cards, random events, and negative effects that can impact gameplay. Then the players enter the card game phase, where they're able to place down cards in their hands, and activate various effects of different cards they have on board.

WHAT IS CASH OR CARD?

Cash or Card is a competitive game where players are presented with morally challenging dilemmas that have no clear cut solution. Players are required to make tough decisions that may require them to compromise their moral principles in order to succeed. The main game objective is to deplete your opponents’ cash reserve to zero, while staying alive until the end to be declared the winner. The game's theme focuses on raising awareness about labor exploitation practices in the working class, encouraging players to avoid supporting companies that engage in such unethical practices. To achieve our gameplay, we've designed the game to ensure that all decisions are meaningful and have significant consequences that become more severe as the game progresses. One aspect which makes our game unique is how as players progress through the game, they will encounter increasingly difficult moral dilemmas that challenge their beliefs and principles. They must decide whether to take actions that are morally questionable but may provide them with a strategic advantage, or whether to stay true to their values and risk falling behind.

OUR NARRATIVE

The narrative of the game is one of social responsibility and ethical decision-making. Players must navigate the complex world of business, avoiding the temptations of exploiting workers for profit and striving to create a workplace that treats its employees with respect and dignity. The game aims to raise awareness about labor exploitation practices within the working class, encouraging players to avoid supporting companies that engage in such unethical practices. Players will learn to recognize these practices and the harm they cause to workers, both physically and mentally. By making ethical choices in the game, players can influence the market and help create a more just and fair business environment.

GAME MECHANICS

Up to four players can play our game at once, and our target audience is players aged 15-30, those who are in the workforce, or might enter soon. Our game is played on a square tile board, with a grid separated into 4 sections within the outer movement space. Players take turns rolling to move, landing on specific tiles that allow them to put playable cards in their hand, or event cards. Players can draw playable cards from an ethical or unethical pile, earning karma tokens when drawing from unethical.

Players place cards on their board, building them on top of each other depending on their tier. These cards provide effects that collect resources and allow players to attack opponents. Players must try to outlast their opponents, not only by attacking, but managing their resources and karma tokens, which can create devastating consequences when an event card is drawn.

PLAY MATRIX

Our game doesn’t require any physical dexterity such as reaction speed or movement, instead focuses on the player’s ability to evaluate the best course of action and weigh the effects of decisions on the spot. The chance elements of our game is the frequency of which the players can draw cards they can place, and if they land on event tiles. Dealing damage is dependant on the players resource management and ability to make decisions benefiting them the most. Our game has a good balance of luck and skill, that leans more towards skill.
